• I have a WordPress website for my family and local history. On that website I have two separate blogs, one with family stories and one with local history stories. All blog posts show on the front end under either blog heading. I want them to be completely separate blogs with the the posts for each category under their own topic. I believe it is the categories that I am confused with and assigning incorrectly. Can some nice guru help me with this? Many thanks.

    Hello Chrissy!

    You could try the following:

    • Create two categories, for example Family Stories and Local History.
    • When you write or edit a post, assign it only to the appropriate category.
    • Each category will have its own archive page. That means you’ll automatically get a page that shows only posts from that category.
    • Copy the link of each category and add them to your menu. That way, visitors can click directly to “Family Stories” or “Local History” and see just those posts.

    I hope this helps.

I can relate to the confusion when dealing with categories and taxonomies on WordPress. Getting your content sorted out is key! Our company, Glassinium, had similar headaches separating our glass partition projects from our LED mirror products on our site. I ended up needing a specialized plugin to handle the complexity. Good luck, hope you find a guru to help!
