BLC Spider not visiting external links

Hi,

I’ve installed Broken Link Checker on 3 websites and activated the cloud version several days ago. The spider crawled the websites and was abled to count the number of links. But it doesn’t found any broken links while, on one website, I voluntary placed 2 external broken links. And on another website, I have more than 70K links so there are inevitably broken links.

I checked the server logs of a website which has at least one link in one of these 3 websites and found no line with the WPMU DEV Broken Link Checker Spider user agent nor a BLC IP address.

I read the entire documentation of the plugin and found nothing about when the spider begins testing external links after the first scan or something else.

Is there a bug with the spider at the moment?

Hope you’re doing well today! I am sorry to hear about the issue you’re facing.

I was able to replicate the issue on my lab site. I am checking about this further with the BLC team to gain further insights from them about the issue.

In the meantime, will it be possible for you to share your website URL and the example broken link in case the devs need it to check the logs internally to identify any pattern?

In any case, we shall update you on this thread as soon as the BLC team shares further insights.

I would like to update this has been escalated this a bug and our team is currently working on it. At the moment, there isn’t any exact ETA we could provide but hope it would be soon.

An update here, we’ve released a fix for this issue, and the BLC Cloud Version should be able to list the broken external links. Please check on your end and let us know how it goes.
