Hi,
There’s a sticky topic at the top of the forum about this: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/updraftplus/
David
Much appreciated! Makes sense. Thank you.
It is not the first time they do.
Based on that there are sites without a correct administration, they access forced automatic updates without giving option to those who do administer our websites.
I already asked the other time.
What happens if that update fails without having made a previous backup? What happens if the schedule chosen for update is the maximum traffic of a site or during an online event that has cost time and money organizing?
Before taking this step, the right thing would have been to send a notification informing that there was a problem, that it was necessary to update and not to be done before day X, the automatic update would be proceeded.
If they have access to the administrator’s email to notify that the update was already done, they can also access it to notify the need to do so without reaching the extreme of doing things unilaterally.
Very disenchanted, again.
Actually, efquintana, I am wholeheartedly on your side on this issue. I turn off all autoupdates on my sites (when they aren’t under Managed WordPress where I sometimes cannot) because I want control of when these updates are applied. I also use Rollback so I can quickly revert back if the site has a serious issue with an update. I want to be available to make these updates and react immediately if necessary. I use backups as well to make sure there is a fallback. I agree that they have our email address to let us know the update was applied, so why not just alert us using the same email address and let us deal with it.
