I am configuring the settings for Super Progressive Web Apps.

When I add the URL (PNG image exactly 192×192 in size) to Application Maskable Icon, a REMOVE button appears.

    What does it mean?

    What should I do?

    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The “Remove” option does not mean something is wrong, nor does it mean you must remove the icon. It’s simply the normal way to clear the field if you change your mind or want to upload a different icon.

So, you do not have to click it unless you want to delete the icon you’ve already set. If you prefer not to use a maskable icon, you can safely leave this field empty and continue using the plugin without any issues.

Please let us know if you need any further assistance. 🙂

    Thanks for the prompt response!

For the Application Maskable Icon, should I use the same URL as I used in the Application Icon, or create a new, specific maskable PWA icon?

If the latter, which online maskable PWA icon generator do you recommend?

    Hi,

It’s recommended to use a separate, maskable-specific icon rather than the same one used for the Application Icon, as maskable icons follow a different safe-area design. You can find several online tools available on Google that help generate maskable PWA icons.

My apologies for not responding to your last comment from a month ago. I put the SPWA plugin on hold while being busy with another project and forgot about this thread.

Closing it is fine. If I have more questions, I will start a new thread.

    Thanks again!
