All images have disappeared after updating
-
Hello,
My WordPress is currently running version 6.8.2
Nggallery 3.59.12
Now site won’t display any images in any nggallery.
I just discovered they appear if I’m not logged into WordPress.
I’ve reset all nggallery settings, I’ve tried disabling all plugins, and using the default theme.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

has this happened to anyone else ?
Hi @doublesixx,
Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry to hear about the problem.
While we’re not aware of similar cases where images fail to show up when logged into the site, I’m here to help.
Firstly, I’d like to confirm that the gallery images appear to load well on the gallery page you mentioned.
To start, I recommend clearing any site cache if you’re using a third-party caching plugin.
Could you let me know if the gallery images fail to load on the frontend, the backend (“Admin > NextGEN Gallery > Manage Galleries”), or both?
Additionally, if you right-click on a failed-to-load image placeholder and choose “Open image in new tab” please let me know what URL appears.
Thanks!
MihaiMihai,
No images load on the main website while logged in, they only appear when I’m logged out.
Which cache are you referring to ?
The server cache ? I had hostgator do that already last weeek.
I have cleared the cache and reset nggallery.
The back end is a little more strange. The logo.png (nggallery logo) doesn’t load, no images in manage galleries have images.
Yes the images load in a new tab.
Hi @doublesixx,
Thank you for your response, and I apologize for any confusion about clearing the cache.
If you’re using third-party caching plugins, I suggested clearing the site’s cache. However, if you don’t use any, you can skip this step.
I understand you’ve cleared the image cache from “NextGEN Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous” without seeing results.
Since you mentioned that the backend loads oddly and the NextGEN Gallery logo doesn’t appear, there might be a larger issue. Could you please check if WP Media images are loading correctly for you?
It would also help to check your browser’s console for any errors related to this issue, such as CORS errors.
Please let me know what you find.
Thanks!
MihaiMihai,
No cache plugins.
Oddly sometimes the nggallery logo will load.
Occasionally some WP images won’t load on the backend.
I took some pix, uploaded outside of nggallery. But when I check the site I get my 404 image. Even when logged out.
Here’s a snippet some I see when I right click an image that didn’t load.

Hi @doublesixx,
Thanks for your reply and for sharing more details about the console errors.
It looks like you’re experiencing a mixed content error, but it doesn’t seem to be affecting the image loading directly. Additionally, the images tagged as Header3-41.jpg are generating 404 errors, which typically means the browser can’t locate or load them.
Do any of your gallery image file names appear in the console when you check?
To rule out a CORS issue, consider using a third-party plugin like Really Simple Security to ensure all links load via HTTPS. This might resolve the problem.
I hope this helps!
Best regards,
MihaiMihai,
Yes the image names appear in the console.
I tried something. I used http instead of https and the site worked.
How to fix the problem ?
Please help, this has been really killing me.
Thanx you in advance, have a great day.
Mihai,
OK the issue was with my .htaccess
Fixed now, and all is well, I appreciate all your help.
