Admin locked out

    Administrator tried to install 2 step authentication and has been locked out. She is absolutely unable to progress and can not add me as an Administrator. This has been going on for many months so no one can add anything to our site. It may be as far back as Feb 2024. Neither of us have IT skills as we are from a much earlier generation where typewriters were hi-tech. Do we need to go to a new site developer and dump WordPress or is there some relatively understandable fix?

    Connect to your webserver using FTP and look for that plugin in wp-content/plugins/ folder. Then delete that plugin from there. This would stop asking 2FA and let you login with regular username and password.

    In this case you can try to reach your hosting provider or if you are tech savvy you can get into website hosting and try to create a user for you using theme functions.php file or if you have the access to phpmyadmin then you can do this using wp_users table.
