2010 Holiday Package time!

For up to date (most of the time) news and original opinions before they hit the update, follow us on Twitter!

-----

Hey friends. It's that time of year again! Switchfoot has just unleashed their latest holiday package, and it's looking to be one of their best in quite some time. There are two options this year:

As you can see, they are both similar, save for the fact that the Deluxe package features an exclusive new hoodie in place of a t-shirt of your choice. Also, the deluxe package comes with a pair of Ultimate Ears headphones to the first 250 customers.

So if you're into that sort of thing, grab it now!

For those of you wondering whether the "Eastern Hymns for Western Shores" EP will be released separately, the answer is "probably."

From Twitter:
- @switchfoot “@chrispochiba: @switchfoot can we buy the ep separately?” EP will prob be avail separately sometime in 2011, thx!

For those of you who didn't get the email newsletter for this month (yours truly included), here is an excerpt of the story behind "Eastern Hymns for Western Shores," as well as the rest of the package.

First up is something we are really excited about, a new EP called "Eastern Hymns For Western Shores". These songs were recorded during the time between "Nothing Is Sound" and "Oh! Gravity". For years the masters to these sessions were thought to be lost/stolen, but they have at last been recovered. Recorded and mixed within the same week, these six songs showcase a darker and more mysterious sound for the band, and we're excited that they will finally be heard. We went all out with the packaging for it too. Each song on the EP has it's own unique postcard and it's all wrapped up like you just picked them up from the gift shop on your travels around the world. We really hope you like it!

Also in the mix is something we've never done before... a calendar! We made a 2011 wall calendar with some of our favorite shots from the last year and it even has Switchfoot-related dates in it so you can keep up on all your Switchfoot birthdays and such.

As always we have our hand-signed limited edition Christmas Card as well. Rounding out the package is either your choice of any t-shirt in the store (standard package), or a brand-new hoodie (deluxe package) that we released just for this package!

And lastly, if you act fast, the first 250 to order the deluxe package will receive a pair of the brand new Ultimate Ears UE 100 earphones courtesy of Ultimate Ears. We are especially fond of these earphones not only because we use Ultimate Ears Custom Monitors on stage but our very own Jon Foreman is featured on the back of the UE 100 package! If you miss your chance to pick up the Ultimate Ears earphones in our Christmas package, be sure to go and like their Twitter and Facebook pages where they give away free earphones every weekday.

Thanks for making 2010 our best year ever and here's to a great 2011!

^I'm stoked to have this package. Are you?

-----

Oh and lastly, a fun note. Our friend Jeanna from LOBH and I helped collaborate on the creation of the calendar. Once you see it, let us know what you think!

First off, welcome back! Sorry there were no updates over the weekend and yesterday. Been kinda busy. But glad to be back!

So anyways, looks there was new merch posted over the weekend, including the 2008 Edition of the annual Holiday Package! And boy, this year is packed full of goodies.

The Holiday Package, which ships Oct. 31 for early November delivery, includes:

* The Best Yet - Deluxe Edition CD/DVD
* New Poster

* Christmas Card - hand-signed by the band!
* Unreleased Switchfoot B-side "We Are Bound" - instant download at checkout!

------------------------------

And it looks like there will be a few tour dates in December, according to the Tour page of switchfoot.com
Switchfoot will be touring with fellow alternative rock mainstays 3 Doors Down for this one, and they'll be one of the opening bands once more. Let's hope this will be their LAST opening-band stint for a LONG time because their next album is going to rule. It IS pretty awesome though, that the band is touring with some Mainstream acts for once... it's about time they returned to some semblance of more widespread exposure.

Here are the dates:

*12/04/08 Orange Beach, AL / The Amphitheater at the Wharf (LINK)
*12/09/08 Pikesville, KY / Eastern KY Expo Center (LINK)
*12/12/08 Charlotte, NC / Cricket Arena (On Sale Oct 18th)
*12/13/08 Hampton, VA / Hampton Coliseum (On Sale Oct 18th)
*12/17/08 Greensboro, NC / Greensboro Coliseum (On Sale Oct 18th)

Jon Foreman to Release Full EP Collection in VINYL

Jon Foreman VINYL is here!

The limited edition Jon Foreman vinyl box set is now available to order. It contains four 12" marbled high quality vinyl records (fall, winter, spring, summer) and a beautiful four page book-style cover featuring a few of Andy Barron's best shots of Jon over the years. Each box set is numbered 1-500 (we're only making 500 of these marbled guys!), and every set is signed by Jon Foreman.

THE FIRST 100 ORDERS WILL RECEIVE A HANDMADE CANVAS WALL HANGING. (while supplies last)

In addition, we will provide high quality MP3's of 26 Jon Foreman tunes, plus 2 extra unreleased songs: "Broken From the Start" and "Over the River"

A Note from Jon:

"hey record players, Vinyl has been a dream of mine ever since I stole my parents record player back in the day. Since this project sounded like it was meant for vinyl from the start I decided to splurge: marbled vinyl and all. Andy Baron did the artwork, using photos he took from some of the late night shows from around the world. If you're trying to keep one foot in the digital age all the songs from all four seasons (plus two new songs) are included as MP3s for your Ipod. So I hope you dig it! If you like to drop the needle down from time to time this is a collection that I think you'll enjoy for a long time".

peace,
jon

----------------------------

At $55, this is a hefty product to come from the Foreman camp. I personally am seriously considering it, but also know that if I do shell out the cash for this, I will be officially broke.

What do you all think? Is this worth the price? And for those collectors out there, there will also be "The Best Yet" and "Limbs and Branches" too. Decisions decisions.

Thoughts about the monetary side of things aside, I do have to say this is a brilliant, awesome thing that Jon Foreman is doing for the fans. The solo ep's truly are epic works of art, and to "vinylize" them is only appropriate. For those who are able to get it, I'm sure you will be receiving pieces of art that will endure for a long, long time.

Switchfoot's "Dope Shades"; Jon Foreman to Collaborate with Molly Jenson

Hola! A few juicy stories to report today to all you friends! (none of which is to my credit... our hawk-eye friends caught all of today's stuff... haha)

First off, our friend Jacqui from the official message boards spotted a new product in Switchfoot's bandfarm merchandise page: Switchfoot Sunglasses!

These shades first made an appearance at the Muskegon, Michigan show, better known as the "Webcam Show." They were described as "dope shades" by the Switchfoot crew. I have to say, these really are dope... and they're only $5! Go get it already?!

-------------------------------------------

Next, LOBH reports that Molly Jenson will be re-releasing her album, jiggered up with a brand new song written with none other than our very own Jon Foreman! Here's a portion of her email:

"So far things have been great! I'm going to re-release my album in September with new artwork and an added song that I wrote with Jon Foreman (Switchfoot). The song has been recorded and the photo shoot for the album artwork is happening TODAY!!!"

Amazing! I really hope it's "Dreamer," a song that first appeared at a Lestats coffee shop show in July last year. Here's what it sounds like:

"Dreamer"

Here's another song they both wrote, called "Do You Only Love The Ones Who Look Like You"

It could be one of those two... stay tuned! This is sweet stuff.

-------------------------------------------

Remember to keep requesting "This Is Home" on Radio Disney! We want to crack Top 15 this week! Oh, and request the single version of "This Is Home" on iTunes too!

Friends of the Foot Launches! Up In Arms Tour Rages on!

amigos,

We are extremely grateful for the community of friends that we've met along the way through these songs. Many of you have played a vital role in inspiring us to do what we do. We've always looked for ways to connect beyond just the songs and the shows. This is why we began putting out a free video podcast (now 32 episodes and counting!), the daily foot photo journal, the switchfeed news feed on our homepage, the live studio camera, and our all-new message-board community. For us, music has always been about communication, and keeping the dialogue going long after the guitars have stopped ringing. In addition to all of this, many of you have been requesting, for lack of a better term, a fan club of sorts (maybe a "fam" club?), and after much planning and brainstorming, we are extremely excited to bring to you "Friends of the Foot."

What this IS:
A way for us to provide something extra for those that want it -- a way to say hi at the shows without having to wait outside the venue; a way to see what happens on tour and in the studio on a larger scale, with updates on an almost-daily basis; access to rare out-takes, and other downloads that a casual listener may not appreciate. This is simply a way to do more, without taking anything away from what we already do.

What this IS NOT:
an elite club or clique. This is not about who has and has not. This is not about who is a real fan and who isn't. This is not a dividing line in the middle of our great community. This is simply a way for us to provide a higher level of content and dialogue for those who want it.

We are extremely grateful for everyone that listens to these songs, everyone who sings along, and everyone who believes that these tunes could be part of a story much larger than ourselves. Whether you are a friend of the foot, or simply a friend, we are honored to have you as part of our family.

Sincerely,

jon, tim, chad, jerome, and drew

The price tag is steep (50 bucks!), but it will be worth it! Go pick up your membership today by going HERE

Happy Turkey Day!

Hello Switchfoot fams!

Hope your day is filled with thanks and giving, and much turkey! So here's a brief update, and I'm off to the feasts... not really. haha. Ok:

-------------------------------------------

You can pre-order Jon's entire EP collection right now at bandfarm.

It comes with a limited edition poster, hand-signed by Jon Foreman himself. Sweet. (Note: It's only downloads, not the physical copies.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, the Live at Ventura Theatre DVD was available separately, outside of the Holiday Package, but has been taken down. It'll prolly be put up in the future.
(edit: it's up again!

Digging back through Switchfeed's archives, I found a glowing review about the show.

"So I went to the merch table, and on inquiry found that they wouldn't be handing out any photopasses because they were filming a DVD that night."

Complete Review on Switchfeed.

Oh! Gravity.'s Continued Success, Holiday Packs, and Jono

Christianitytoday.com, a "Christian music" website has listed Switchfoot's Oh! Gravity. the No. 6 Album of 2007. It beat out several CCM notables, like David Crowder Band's Remedy, Relient K's Five Score and Seven Years Ago, and Needtobreathe's The Heat. Nice!

In other news, Bandfarm has put up the annual Switchfoot holiday package!

Holiday Pack

This year's Holiday Package includes:

* "Live at the Ventura Theatre" DVD (YES!!)
* t-shirt of your choice
* signed christmas card
* 12-page glossy poster-book from fall tour
* 5-song bootleg download from fall tour
* brand new collectible 5-button pack
* 3 sticker pack
* free 1-song download from Jon's new solo EP titled "fall"

Very cool.
Getting a shirt will cost $20, and adding the holiday package will add an additional $25, making the grand total $45. It's a sweet deal.

The first Jono EP review is up!

According to Foreman the songwriting and production of these EPs were creatively intertwined. "Most of these songs were written and recorded the same night," said Foreman. "I would sing and play my guitar late at night until I got a take that captured what the song meant to me. From there I would add instruments to the vocal to see what would be appropriate. It was a very therapeutic, lonely, cleansing process."

The Fall EP stirs up just this sort of sentiment — its stripped-down arrangements put Jon's earnest voice and raw lyrics at the forefront of this personal set of songs.
