ADIEU, OLD AUTHORIZATION SYSTEM

Upgrade At 60% Off And Say Bye To The Old Authorization System

This is an important announcement — and a great opportunity — for users of Reason 11 and lower. A new, stable, and near-invisible authorization system has been implemented in Reason 12. This means we will have to discontinue the old one, which is used by Reason 6-11. You will still be able to use your old Reason version, but the change will have some implications for you. See the details below.

We’d also like to give you a whopping 60% off your first year of a Reason+ Annual subscription or Reason 12 upgrade, so you can stay creative and inspired with a hassle-free workflow. And, of course, enjoy all the new instruments, effects, Players, and other workflow improvements that come with Reason+ and Reason 12.

The News, Summarized

  • A new and much-improved authorization system has been implemented in Reason 12
  • As of September 25, 2023, the old authorization system will be discontinued
  • This affects owners of Reason versions 6-11
  • Owners of these Reason versions will be able to authorize Reason 1-11 by logging in online during usage, even after the discontinuation date
  • The owners’ offline authorization will also keep working, but it will not have official support from Reason Studios, and any updates to the computer (such as OS updates) may result in the authorization ceasing to function
  • Any new Rack Extensions purchased by owners of Reason 6-11 will have to be authorized online during usage after the discontinuation date

We invite all Reason 1-11 owners to upgrade to the Reason+ Annual subscription or Reason 12 at a 60% discount until June 30, 2023

What’s This About A New Authorization System?

With the recent launch of Reason 12.6, many great updates and features were implemented. Among those is a new, stable, and near-invisible authorization system that gets out of your way and lets you run Reason virtually anywhere and anytime. Make music on a plane, in a remote cabin in the woods, or play live in a bunker club deep underground. It just works without any form of hardware key, virtual key, or always-on internet connection. More details are on this page.

How Does This Affect Me?
On September 25, 2023, we are discontinuing the old authorization system which is used by Reason 6-11. You will still be able to authorize those older Reason versions by logging in online. Read more here.

What’s So Great About Reason 12?
Reason 12 came out over two years ago and introduced many new features and tools. Further upgrades and improvements have been made along the way. Some highlights: Create simple or complex patches that are still easy to play and manipulate in real time using the new powerful Combinator 2. Get Mimic, the advanced sampler instrument with so many inspiring possibilities. Enjoy the crisp high-resolution graphics that makes eye strain a thing of the past. And find what you’re looking for quickly and easily with the much-improved Library search feature.

As of Reason 12.6, Reason also runs natively on Apple Silicon (M1/M2) equipped computers, with up to 50% improved performance.

Would I Be Better Off Waiting?
No, the smart thing to do is to get on board with Reason 12 or Reason+ now. We are continuously improving Reason 12, and to be clear — there are no plans for a Reason 13 release in 2023. So don’t sit this one out. Upgrade now so you can focus on making music.
