Kuala Lumpur, 03 September 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia conducted another Special Consular Mission to palm oil plantations in Sabah on 21 to 30 August 2022 at the IOI Clubhouse, Sandakan, Sabah. The said special mission is in line with the Embassy’s goal of providing birth and identification documents to undocumented Filipinos in Sabah to regularize their employment status in palm oil plantations. In a joint operation between the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), more than 1,500 Filipino plantation workers and their dependents successfully registered their births. PH EMBASSY TREATS FILCOM TO A VIRTUAL FIESTA IN CELEBRATION OF “KALAYAAN 2022” Kuala Lumpur, 12 June 2022 – The Philippine Embassy in Malaysia commemorated the 124th anniversary of Philippine Independence or “Kalayaan 2022” with a flag raising ceremony and a virtual fiesta with the members of the Filipino Community.  The hybrid celebration commenced with a ceremonial hoisting of the flag with the personnel of the Embassy and its attached agencies, after which, the participants listened to the Independence Day messages of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Teodoro L. 21 August 2017—The Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur reported today that Ambassador Charles C. Jose presented his credentials before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong XV (King) of Malaysia, Sultan Muhammad V, in ceremonies held on August 17 at the Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur.

He presented his credentials along with envoys from Myanmar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, France, Indonesia, Sudan, Vietnam, Germany, Austria, Norway, Timor Leste and Uruguay.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Jose presented his Letters of Credence and the Letter of Recall of his predecessor, and also conveyed the good wishes of Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the Agong and the government and people of Malaysia.

“Since a Philippine Legation was established in Kuala Lumpur in 1929, formal diplomatic relations have been nurtured throughout the years, thus enhancing cooperation in the political, economic, security, tourism and other fields,” Ambassador Jose said.

“It is with great honor and strong determination that I embrace the responsibility of being the representative of my country to Malaysia.  It is a challenge for me to ensure that our cooperation in all fields will be sustained and further enhanced.  I look forward to His Majesty’s support and guidance in the conduct of my mission,” he added.

Present during the event were Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials and other Istana Negara officials.

Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Malaysia began in October 1959 when the Philippine Legation was established in Kuala Lumpur, and was elevated into a full Embassy two years later.  Ambassador Jose is the 11th Philippine envoy to Malaysia.  END

Ambassador Charles C. Jose has assumed his post as the country's top envoy to Malaysia.

A seasoned diplomat and a member of the Philippine Foreign Service career corps, he commenced his diplomatic assignment in Kuala Lumpur on 15 April 2017. 

Ambassador Jose earlier served as the Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson and Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy from 17 March 2014 to 14 April 2017.

Previously, he also served as the Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai from 26 March 2011 to 28 February 2014, and Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Chongqing, China from 22 February 2009 to 25 March 2011. 

The Ambassador earned his degree in AB Economics in 1982 from the University of the Philippines in Diliman and Master’s degree in Southeast Asian Studies in 2002 from the National University in Singapore.

He is married to Madam Maria Victoria Jose and they have two daughters.
