About Us
Everyone has a family. And every family has a story. "This Is Us" chronicles the Pearson family across the decades: from Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) as young parents in the 1980s to their 37-year-old kids, Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Randall (Sterling K. Brown) searching for love and fulfillment in the present day. This grounded, life-affirming dramedy reveals how the tiniest events in our lives impact who we become, and how the connections we share with each other can transcend time, distance and even death. From the writer and directors of "Crazy, Stupid, Love" comes a smart, modern show that will welcome you into a family you feel you've known for years.

Was it absolutely necessary for a 12-year old starting her journey upon becoming a woman to "come out"? I have worked with early teens in middle school and at that point one's sexuality and preferences are still malleable with ""girl crushes" on best friends, which mature to friendships. Not romantic desires. I was very disappointed that the show - to be "PC" -threw that in. Are there any shows left that do not go down that path? I am not homophobic, but I do not believe practically every single show that comes out of Hollywood must thrust this question in our faces. Particularly co-opting the story of a 12 year old still finding her way. It felt as though the dialog in that specific scene was simply thrown in gratuitously. This is essentially a family show grappling with real issues, but this issue could have been left out. Unfortunately I bought the entire third season but disappointingly plan not to finish it.

Not the whole season, ready and available to watch. For $30 you are buying the Season Pass. Meaning when it premieres on 9/25/18, and every week there's a new episode, you will then gain access to it on Prime Video due to you purchasing the Season Pass for it. So please don't complain about not being able to watch the whole season yet when it's not even out. Again, this is a Season Pass. Understand what you are buying before complaining.

This show is about a family that we can all relate to as it is just an American family. It delves into each character in the series that will bring the hardest person to tears. The story goes back in time to show the history of everyone. It touches on nearly every facet of their lives.

Love the series! This is a season pass, so every week you'll be able to view the new episode. This show just keeps getting better and better... I ball my eyes out every episode. My father passed away when I was 19, he was the Jack kind of father, almost to a T. This show has helped me relate and heal in ways I never could before. Brilliant writing, incredible cast. I've never been more in love with a series before.

The disks are overlapped and scratched badly! Two of the disks are ruined and unwatchable. When they arrived all disks were in the correct position so it's not due to shipping.....though WILL say that Amazon NEEDS to ship movies and games in a BOX vs envelopes!!! We have had so many losses due to this. Love THIS IS US, just disappointed in the way they arranged them and knowingly sold them with damages.

Don’t like this season as much as the first....too much time flashing back to Jack’s life when the final episode of season one seemed to help that story come to a respectful conclusion-

This is a true feel-good series. There are a few plot twists in this that help keep this even more interesting or at least as interesting as the last two seasons. One of my all-time favorite television series.

SPOILER free dvd review UK watcher
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 29, 2019Verified Purchase
Bought this not realising that the packaging would be in a different language and was worried that it might onot play on my uk dvd player - and it played perfectly first time around. I just put the dvd in and it figured out that I was in the uk with a uk r2 player and it sorted itself out just fine. I did look in the menu and you can choose from a variety of different languages and surround options as well as a variety of subtitles in a variety of languages, and they are easy to set up if you want.
So it played perfectly, what next
This Is Us just continues to get better and better. This season we are introduced to more time slots including both Jack and Rebecca before they met and a tantalising snippet of the future. The first episode starts oddly, but bear with it as it goes on to explain why it started as it did and also does a recap of who was where the last time we saw them, and what is happening right now with them.
Reccomendation - have a nice box of tissues at the ready, and also your comfort food or drink of choice, as you will need it!

13 Hours of riveting escapism
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 1, 2021Verified Purchase
Before I start my assessment of the show itself, it's worth mentioning that this is an EU import, but is a Region 2 DVD, which of course means it's suitable for UK players. The only difference you'll notice (as opposed to one manufactured solely for the British market) is the age restriction label printed in German on the front cover (and on each of the DVD's). Additionally, there is some German text on the back cover. Everything else (menu, credits, dialogue etc) is just as you're used to - in that it's all in American English! So don't panic!
Having previously reviewed series 1 & 2, what more can I say about this fantastic series? Well I suppose I could mention that the high standards demonstrated in those first two seasons continue in this third outing. I love the way we the viewers are allowed to get up close to the characters, and watch them intimately as they progress through their lives. At the same time, we are cleverly taken back to each of their individual, earlier experiences. And really, SO MUCH ground is covered - and it NEVER gets boring. There are surprising revelations around every corner, some sad, some amusing, some shocking - all of them will push your emotional buttons.
Every subject covered in each episode is written superbly, and acted with such sensitivity by the principal actors that I never feel they are straying into soap opera mush. Nevertheless, in spite of considering myself to be a middle-aged, macho guy, I still get reduced to tears - during, and after EVERY episode. That's why I insist on watching it with the curtains drawn and the lights turned off! 😆
Lack of self-confidence, trying to lose weight, alcoholism, depression, handling difficult children/parents, racism, sexism, PTSD, losing a loved one, drug-taking - all these issues are tackled head-on, and with such skill throughout each season, that you would have to have a heart of stone not to feel for the characters who are experiencing them. All I can add is 'This Is Us' is a tremendous show, and I can wholeheartedly recommend Season 3 to you. Many thanks for reading my review - and happy viewing. 📺📽🎬🙂

What now for a series when its key character is dead? Actually here is still much to acclaim. Thanks to innumerable flashbacks, Jack Pearson remains very much a feature, especially as siblings Kevin, Kate and Randall intend to honour his memory in different ways.
Kevin's role in a war film makes him wonder why the family knows nothing about Jack's experiences in Vietnam. A pilgrimage to that country leads to major revelations.
Determined that Jack's genes should live on, overweight Kate is prepared to put her life at risk to have a baby.
Mindful that Jack always stood up for what was right, Randall is stirred by the plight of residents in a deprived region in Philadelphia. What chance of his bid to be elected Councillor?
Meanwhile, of course, wife Rebecca is full of memories - how she and Jack first met, their courtship, challenges bringing up the three youngsters.
In various ways all their lives move on. Highs and lows. So often memories of Jack, examples set, advice given, play a part in difficulties overcome.
Everything is skilfully and involvingly handled. Rightly acclaimed are sensitive scripts full of family situations viewers can relate to. Forever there is moving back and forth in time, different cast depicting main characters as children and teens, excellent main actors convincingly younger and older as the occasion demands.
Eighteen episodes. Bonuses comprise creators and key stars discussing developments.
Salute here a series well deserving all the praise received.

I absolutely love this is us. If you liked series 1 and 2 you’ll enjoy this one just as much. I can’t say much without spoilers but suffice it to say Beth gets to show her colours in this series more than in previous ones.
