A trailblazing leader

Paulette Jordan is a trailblazing leader running for U.S. Senate to fight for Idaho working families. A proud member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Paulette grew up on a north Idaho farm and learned about land cultivation and preservation from her elders. Paulette developed a strong connection to Idaho’s land and the people who share it, and she was raised to fight for the needs of her community and to protect the earth’s priceless natural resources. In 2008, after graduating from the University of Washington, Paulette returned home to Idaho and became the youngest person elected to the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Council. Paulette went on to work as a business development strategist in the energy sector, in addition to serving as both the Finance Chair and as well as the Secretary of the Executive Board of the National Indian Gaming Association (NIGA). In 2014, Paulette ran to represent her home district in the Idaho House of Representatives. Despite tough odds, she unseated an incumbent Republican and successfully ran for a second term. In 2018, Paulette was the Democratic gubernatorial candidate for Idaho, becoming the first woman nominated to the position by a major party in Idaho and the first Native American woman nominated for governor in U.S. history. More Idahoans cast their votes for Paulette in 2018 than they had for any Democratic gubernatorial or congressional candidate in Idaho history. Now, she is running for the United States Senate to give Idaho working families a new voice in Washington. Paulette is a mother of two young boys, and lives in Plummer, Idaho.

A champion for Idaho working families

Paulette is running for the United States Senate to expand economic opportunity for all Idaho working families. “Farmers and ranchers are central to Idaho’s economy,” she has said. “The backbone and pride of Idaho is our land.” Paulette is running to bring new leadership to Washington, and to put an end to trade wars that lead to losses for hardworking farmers and ranchers in Idaho and across the country. “Idaho has a unique opportunity to become a national leader in the agricultural technology industry, and I have a blueprint to help us not only keep our agriculture economy booming, but to move it ahead,” she has said. Paulette is deeply committed to expanding access to quality, affordable health care for all. “We don’t always know if we can find quality care, and even if we do, we don’t know if we will get well,” she has said. “We don’t have any idea how much it’ll cost or if we can even pay for it. We risk losing our jobs because we have to miss work. Then, we often stand to lose the health insurance we had through our employers. A shift to people-first healthcare policy means entirely rebuilding our healthcare system and shifting the financial rewards to patient well-being and effectiveness of treatment."
