HST Berthed to Shuttle Atlantis

This wide-angle view shows the Hubble Space Telescope locked down in the cargo bay of the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Atlantis, which would be the site of a great deal of hands-on servicing over the following five days. The Canadian-built Remote Manipulator System robotic arm (right), with its video cameras documenting activity in the shuttle's cargo bay all week, was instrumental in grappling and subsequently capturing the giant orbital observatory for the final servicing mission.
