Social Alliance

Social Alliance

FC Basel 1893 and several other European football clubs are proud to be members of the Football Club Social Alliance, founded in 2007 by the Scort charity. The foundation president is Ms Gigi Oeri, who is also the honorary chairwoman of FC Basel 1893. Another member of the board of trustees is former federal council member, Dr. h.c Adolf Ogi.

The Scort Foundation is a politically and religiously independent, yet charitable organisation, headquartered in Basel. The vision of Scort Foundation is to create a world in which children of less privileged backgrounds can have the opportunity to practice sport. The active participation in sporting activities as well as the influence of social role models is geared to inspire children and their positive development. In order to support Scort’s vision, the foundation builds social networks and programs aimed to educate young adults. These young adults implement various sports programmes in order to become social role models.

The Football Social Alliance is a collective of professional football clubs that focus their efforts in areas of the world which find themselves in a humanitarian crisis or development.  The Football Club Social Alliance also supports the area of disabled football. Scort was established in 2007, under the name “Football Clubs for Development and Peace”. The alliance makes use of the values of football in order to contribute towards the education of young, less privileged individuals to encourage their sustainable development.
