Announcement of all pairings of the ice hockey games at the 8th Asian Winter Games Sapporo 2017

With regard to the ice hockey events at the 8th Asian Winter Games Sapporo 2017, we are pleased to announce that details including the names of teams which will play in each tournament and pairings of all games have been finalized.

20 Men’s teams in total will play separately in the three Divisions, which are “Men’s Top Division” (4 teams), “Men’s Division I” (6 teams) and “Men’s Division II” (10 teams), while all of six Women’s teams will play in the “Women’s tournament”.
The grouping of each tournament has been determined based on their positions in the 2016 IIHF Men’s and Women’s World Ranking or the 2016 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia Ranking in the respective categories or competency of teams with no such ranking.

The tournament formats for the respective tournaments are as follows.
・ Men's Top Division: A single round robin by four teams
・ Men’s Division I: A single round robin by six teams.
・ Men’s Division II :After Preliminary Round by Group A and B (5 teams for each), the 3rd-place game by teams placed at 2nd in each group and the final by the top team in each group will be held. The 5th to 10th places in the final ranking will be determined based on their results that they gain in the Preliminary Round in accordance with the IIHF Sport Regulations.
・ Women’s Tournament: A single round robin by six teams.

Based on the above-mentioned formats, the pairings of the games in the respective tournaments have been finalized in accordance with the IIHF Sport Regulations.
