Bronze medals for Magee brothers at European Games in Baku

Donegal brothers Sam and Joshua Magee have won bronze for Ireland at the European Games despite losing their men's doubles badminton semi-final.

Russian duo Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov won by 21-5, 21-9 in Baku.

Sam and his sister Chloe are also guaranteed bronze in the mixed doubles after a quarter-final win over Poland's Aneta Wojtkow and Pawel Pietryja.

They face France's Gaetan Mittelheisser and Audrey Fontaine in the semi-finals on Saturday after the 21-18, 21-12 win.

Dubliner Scott Evans suffered a surprise exit to Denmark's Emil Holst in his men's singles quarter-final.

The top seed crashed out to world number 52 Holst on a score of 17-21, 14-21.
