FoxNet Plans Nightly Newscast, Hires Amos
FoxNet is angling towards incorporating a nightly newscast, a goal strengthened last week by the hiring of former Cable News Network executive Paul Amos to head Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Service, which will be based in Washington, D.C.
And although its launch on TeleCommunications Inc. cable systems may have been overshadowed by the MSO's problems in marketing the Encore pay movie service, neither TCI or Fox executives feel the new network is any worse for the wear.
FoxNet and TCI also are finding that in their biggest market - Corpus Christi, Texas - a wireless cable company has challenged their exclusive right to Fox programming. …
