Wikipedia Editing for Scientists Workshop
3.00PM TUESDAY 9TH FEBRUARY, 2016
The first Google hit for most topics is a Wikipedia entry. Make sure that your field is accurately and thoroughly represented. For example, see 'catalytic triad' before and after good editing.
This 50 min interactive workshop introduces scientists to editing Wikipedia in order to ensure that their research areas are accurately covered. The workshop is appropriate to all career levels and will cover why its'a good idea to edit your field, how to do so, and the similarities and differences to other scientific writing formats.

Your host
Thomas Shafee is a Postdoctoral researcher in LIMS, developing protein engineering tools for modifying and designing anti-microbial proteins. His research centres around using evolutionary insight to inform engineering of proteins, either by directly evolving them in the laboratory, or by studying their natural evolutionary history.
He has been a Wikipedian since 2013, with thousands of edits across hundreds of pages, and helps run the Molecular and Cell Biology Wikipedia editors' community. In his remaining spare time, he practices design and fine art, and has illustrated several popular science books.
