IN 1994 the first MTV Europe Music Awards was hosted in Berlin by Welsh singing legend Tom Jones.

The show opened with a bang in front of the Brandenburg Gate, just a few years after the Berlin wall was famously torn down.

Since then the awards have been staged cities including London, Edinburgh and Dublin. Singers, fashion designers, actresses, comedians and rappers have taken the mic for hosting duties.

This year singer and actress Selena Gomez is at the helm - and 600million people will see Belfast rock!
