505 Nationals 2015 are happening and hot. See attached documents for the Nationals. Please make sure you download them and have them with you. Also make sure that you put your leave in as the event will be sailed from the 20th to the 23rd of September, together with the Finn Class. This is the 60th Anniversary of the 505 Class. The 2015 5O5 World Championship ended on a high note on Friday when the last race sailed. The battle for positions throughout the fleet was still on and every team had places to gain and to lose. The wind came through from a south westerly direction and in usual fashion started increasing between 10am and 12pm. With this in mind many teams opted to play the right hand side of the course, as this is usually the place to be. Friday was different. Mike Holt and Carl Smit have successfully defended their 2nd World Championship title at the 60th SAP 5O5 World Championship in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Holt and Smit went out with a mission on day 5 of the championship and that was to claim the world title. Two races were sailed in medium to strong conditions and with the wind being in their favour, Holt and Smit dominated by winning both races from Ted Conrads and Brian Haines. Day 3 of the 60th SAP 5O5 World Championship saw the breeze increase in strength and with that bring along a big sea with excellent sailing conditions. Two races were sailed in 13 – 17 knots of south-easterly breeze and the battle for the top position was yet again hot and fast. In race 4 Ian Pinnell and Johannes Tellen showed the fleet what sailing was all about and led the fleet around the course in style. Race 3 got underway at the 60th SAP 5O5 World Championship in light conditions. After a lengthy delay to that start due to a wind shift, the race committee could lay a course and racing could get underway at around 2pm. As Day 2 was a 1 race day, sailors could brace themselves for a long day on the water and a long race.
