This famously split infinitive had the power to inspire some wonder back in 1966, the year that the first "Star Trek" series was born, and three years before the first moon landing. But this is 2001 and we've gone there. And back. And there and back. Meanwhile, no fewer than three "Star Trek"-inspired series have been born and died, with various crews chasing freaky aliens and bringing justice to far- flung parts of our universe.

"Enterprise," the latest series reviving this deathless franchise, debuts tonight at 8 on UPN, Channel 20, and carries the Trekkie torch -- wobbling and barely aflame -- into the new millennium. The gimmick: This is a prequel, set in the middle of the 22nd century, about 100 years before Capt. …
