Coomes/Buckland teamed up in 2005. Buckland's brother Joseph (three years younger) is an ice dancer as well and competes at the international junior level. Coach Evgeni Platov is the 1994 and 1998 Olympic Ice Dance Champion (with Oksana Grishuk). The couple missed the 2011 National Championships due to injury.
