Tuesday, December 16, 2003 -- Comverse Technologies fired 70 employees from its messaging unit on Monday as part of its restructuring plan. Most of the eliminated positions were in Israel.

The communications software and systems provider said the layoffs came as part of an organizational readjustment, under which it is re-evaluating its allocation of manpower to different projects and geographical areas.

Comverse said it would do its best to make the transition as painless as possible for those dismissed. …
