FONTANA - Rapper DJ Quik, a pioneer of the hard-core "gangsta" rap scene in the early 1990s, began serving a five-month jail sentence in San Bernardino County last week for assaulting his sister.

Quik, whose real name is David Marvin Blake, surrendered in Fontana Superior Court on Thursday to begin doing his time.
