Etisalat continues streamlining of operations, restructuring to fulfill commitment to progress

Emirates Telecommunications Corporation- Etisalat- has announced a second series of senior management moves, operational consolidations and the introduction of new departments as part of a restructuring program introduced last month.

The new posts and enhanced management structure has been approved by the Corporation's Board of Directors in order to streamline operations, improve efficiency and ensure more responsive customer service.

Mohammed Khalfan Al Qamzi, CEO, Etisalat, said:
"We are very happy to announce the restructuring of the top management of the Corporation, and I am confident that this will play a major role in preparing the Corporation for the new phase in its existence. The senior executives of the Corporation taking on new roles have been an integral part of the Corporation for a long time, and they will be able to make a significant difference through their new roles and wider responsibilities."


Senior management changes include the following: Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar is now Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Etisalat, and he will have overall operational responsibilities over the Engineering, Marketing and IT departments, and all the regions of Etisalat's operations. Nasser Bin Obood takes over the post of Chief Corporate Affairs Officer (CCAO), and his areas of focus include Contracts and Administration, Legal Affairs, Regulatory, Quality, and Public Relations departments.

The financial affairs of the entire Corporation will be managed overall by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Salem Ali Al Sharhan. Mr. Abdulaziz Al Sawaleh moves to the post of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), where he will oversee the strategic management and planning of HR, as well as recruitment and employee services functions.

Mr. Essa Mohamed Al Haddad, as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), will be responsible for Consumer, SMB (Small/Medium Business) and Enterprise customers, in addition to The Contact Centre and E-VISION. The CMO will report to the COO.

Mr. Mohammad Bamakhrama has been appointed as CEO, Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited, Pakistan, and Mr. Mohammad Al Fahim takes over as the General Manager, The Contact Centre. Mr. Isam Maekawi Sulaiman Akrat has been appointed as Corporation Secretary.

Etisalat's regions in the UAE have been consolidated into three strong regions- Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Northern Emirates. Al Ain will be brought under the Abu Dhabi region, and Northern Emirates region will comprise of Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. Mr. Abdulla Al Mana takes over as Acting General Manager, Etisalat Dubai Region; and Mr. Abdulaziz Al Taryam is Acting General Manager, Etisalat Northern Region.

The Board has also approved the creation of an 'Etisalat Services' department as a separate business entity with distinct legal status and Mr. Ali Al Sharid as its CEO. Etisalat Services will comprise of existing Etisalat business units and subsidiaries including Ebtikar, E-Marine, Etisalat Academy and EDCH.

Preliminary approval has been given for the establishment of two companies for the management, development and maintenance of properties.
