This year's nominees for the annual Q Awards, the award ceremony offspring of dad-rock bible Q magazine, have been announced. Whoa, there, Q - way to get radical on our arses.
Rather than write some silly paragraph about how these bands are mostly pants, how about you just look at the nominees and come to your own conclusions? Yeah? Cool...

That doesn't seem like a lot of categories. There are probably more. Ones that aren't here. I don't know. Some well-wicked bands there, though: fresh, new talents!
The award ceremony takes place on October 30. It'll be presented by Jonathan Ross. Last we heard, we weren't invited. But neither were you, so bothered.

I just don't get it..
everytime I've seen RHCP they've been pretty shocking.
IF I LIED HERR
IF I JUST LIED HERR
WOULD YOU LIE WITH ME
that's because
they're a thoroughly shocking band
can't argue with the facts!
Always thought they've been overrated.
Yeah, but...
None of this is as crap as what MTV & Rolling Stone usually trot out here stateside for their awards. That probably says more about the States than anything else, though.
i agree except
U2 will win best band in the world
Coldplay, U2 and RHCP
Seem to take it in turns.
its so unsurprising it leads me to think...
didn't these awards already happen??
i swear arctic monkeys have won all the 'best new act' awards its fair to give them.
are they really that new?
from this/most awards
you'd think there were only about 10 acts making music these days
Well I hope
Muse win Best Act in the World.
It'd be fucking unfair if they didn't.
First of all, Coldplay and U2 have done NOTHING this year. Oasis have just gobbed off at people. And the Chilli Peppers are shite. Caphiche?
Q continues
It's steady downfall...
Ah tis a shame. The very magazine that orginally got me into music when I was bought it on my 12th birthday is just SO poor these days.
Has anyone seen the bikini-pregnant-Britney Spears-licking-lolly cover of the 20th anivesary edition? It's horrific.
yeah but
Q had them in their "discover new music" section in March.
Why in the name of all that's holy
...isn't Supermassive Black Hole up for track of the year as well?!
And, for that matter, the video for Knights of Cydonia?
Only one of those videos was any good, and that's the Kasabian one.
All the 'best tracks' are shit as well. Well, maybe not all of them, but they're far from award worthy.
Can't they just give everything to Muse this year? It's inevitable.
Give Muse everything
and I'll hate this ceremony slightly less than usual.
New this year
Cos they were new this year... weren't they? It was at the end of last year they first appeared and released the album this Jan...
Have I lost a year?
To be anal about it all
....NME had them in their radar section coming up for nearly 18 months, 2 years ago now.
&& to be even more anal..
...they weren't really new this year, they played Leeds 2005 & had demos out by then.
Fuck.
I hoped Guillemots would be nominated.
God i hate Q but
does anyone remember back in the day when Snow Patrol weren't that bad? 100 Things You've done In Bed and Starfighter Pilot, were good poppy punk songs, now snow Patrol make me want to vomit up my own pelvis!
hahaha
that cracked me up.
oh gosh
this is awful :'[
Yes!
It's not like the old cutting edge days when Macca used to be on the cover every month...hang on a minute...it's always been like that you fuckwits! Duh! Q magazine is for the sales reps that find FHM a bit too down market and Mojo a bit too fuddy duddy daddio.
It's not just awful
It's sad and awful.
Q needs a kick up the arse.
LOL!
Best Track - 'Never Be Lonely' The Feeling
Unless they're being serious by that nomination, in which case...
I just choked
by laughing at that, thanks. :)

And just what is the deal
with the Scissor Sisters' song? The backing track sounds like reheated Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Jesus in a bun, it's awful.
They'll be namechecking Big Fun and Sonia next. The 80s is 'where it's at', after all. Isn't it?
