Patrick Housand - SOLVED
May 28, 2005
On May 28, 2005, at about 3 a.m., 70-year-old Patrick Housand was leaving for his job at Sam’s Club in Littleton when he was attacked outside his residence in Aspen Park. He was found dead by his wife later that morning outside their garage. The autopsy revealed that Mr. Housand had been beaten to death.

UPDATE 2011
On December 2, 2010, investigators traveled to Taney County, Missouri to execute an arrest warrant for Sheldon Lee Herrington for the murder of Patrick Housand. Herrington is the victim's former son-in-law. Herrington pleaded guilty to manslaughter in 2011.
Lucas Gonzales
March 19, 1995
On January 31, 1995, Lucas Gonzales left his home at about 2 p.m. with his uncle. He told his wife that he would be back within 45 minutes. Gonzales and his uncle were in a white, two-door, 1992 Hyundai Excel. The uncle said that he dropped Gonzales off near 46th and Federal in Denver. Gonzales was not heard from after that and was reported missing. Gonzales had been wearing blue pants, a black sweatshirt, a gray T-shirt, and a dark blue jacket.
On March 19, 1995, a hiker located the body of Gonzales on Lookout Mountain, off of the Beaver Brook Trail. Gonzales had been shot.

Lanell Williams - SOLVED
October 14, 1989
On October 14, 1989 at about 5:30 p.m., two School of Mines students were panning for gold when they discovered the body of a black woman. They contacted the Golden Police Department and led police to the location, which was outside the Golden city limits off of Highway 6, about 9/10 mile west of Highway 58. The victim was identified as Lanell Williams. Williams was last seen on Thursday, October 12, 1989 between 6 and 6:30 p.m., when she got some milk, dropped it off at her mother's home and left again. She was last seen wearing a red jacket, blue jeans, black tennis shoes, a red headband and carrying a tan purse, but was found wearing black jeans, a multi-colored sweater, white and pink tennis shoes, a yellow headband and had no purse. Lanell Williams was known to be a drug user.
In 1989 investigators had attempted to analyze DNA evidence from the scene. However, technology at the time was not advanced enough to yield any results.
UPDATE 06/02/06
In 2005, another attempt to analyze evidence using new technology resulted in a DNA profile. The DNA profile led investigators to identify Billy Edwin Reid as their suspect. On June 2, 2006, Billy Edwin Reid, DOB: 4/9/59, was charged with first degree murder. He was in the Denver County Jail at the time on unrelated charges.
UPDATE 09/18/08
On September 18, 2008, a jury found Billy Reid guilty of all charges in the Lanell Williams and Lisa Kelly homicides.

1989 forensic reconstruction

Discovered March 24, 1989
On March 24, 1989 sightseers located a partially decomposed body on Lookout Mountain approximately 0.2 miles west of the Beaver Brook trailhead. The black female was determined to be between 30 and 40 years of age, about 5'4", 115 to 125 pounds. The female had short black hair with a reddish tint in areas. The female may have complained of jaw pain due to an overbite, and her two upper middle teeth were severely chipped. The female may have been there for two to five months prior to discovery. The female was wearing a unique sweatshirt with a magical bear design. The victim's identity was unknown for 16 years.
UPDATE 10/05/05
On October 5, 2005 Jefferson County Sheriff's Office investigators identified the victim as Lisa Kay Kelly. Kelly was 33 years of age at the time of her death. Lisa also used the aliases of Lianne Garfield, Lisa Barnes, Lisa Garfield, Kelly Garfield, and Kelly Barnes. She had returned to Colorado in 1987, after living in California for a few years. Kelly had a drug problem that caused her to turn to criminal activity. She was incarcerated in the Arapahoe County Detention Facility, and released in September 1988.
UPDATE 08/22/06
On August 22, 2006, investigators filed a first degree murder charge with the District Attorney's Office against Billy Edwin Reid, (DOB 04-09-59), in Lisa Kelly's death.
UPDATE 09/18/08
On September 18, 2008, a jury found Billy Reid guilty of all charges in the Lanell Williams and Lisa Kelly homicides.
Sharon Stone
July 28, 1989
On July 28, 1989, a man trying to find a hubcap discovered a body down an embankment about ½ mile west of Highway 93 on Golden Gate Canyon Road. The body was identified as Sharon Stone, who had also used the names Sharon Flynn and Sharon Geionety. Stone had been living in Clinton, Oklahoma and working as a maid in a hotel. In May, 1989, she had called her sister to say she was in Colorado, and had come here with a man. Stone applied for a Colorado ID card and on May 30, 1989 worked for a temp agency.

James William Murray
May 15, 1988
On May 15, 1988 residents of a Deer Creek Canyon home experienced problems with their toilet. After trying other remedies they opened the septic tank and inside discovered a body. With the help of Aspen Septic Service and the Jefferson County Coroner's Office the tank was drained and the body and evidence removed. The body was identified as that of James William Murray, known to locals as "Crazy Jim."
Family and friends had not seen Murray since December 1985, as he prepared for a trip to Arizona. Murray lived in a cabin behind Long Brothers Garage off Highway 285 near Conifer for a number of years. He also rented a house off of Grapevine Road for a while. He was last known to have a beige Volkswagen Rabbit. Investigation revealed that Murray had both used and sold cocaine.
After the story of Murray's death became public, many Jefferson County residents came forward with information. Today, the Cold Case team is seeking any information that may shed light on this case, whether or not it was provided during the initial investigation. Shannon Rose MacLean
April 29, 1988
On or about April 29, 1988, 19-year-old Shannon Rose MacLean was hitchhiking with a friend on Broadway between Evans and Mississippi in Denver. The women got a ride from a white man, described to be in his early 30's, chubby build, 5'9" - 5'10", short brown hair, with a mustache and yellowing teeth, wearing blue jeans, a blue shirt, a white baseball cap with blue trim and dark glasses. The subject was driving an older model brown station wagon with the word "Laguna" on the dash and a "Fish naked" bumper sticker on the rear bumper. MacLean's friend told investigators that there was a temporary employee badge for Martin Marietta in the vehicle and it appeared that the driver might have been living out of his vehicle. MacLean's friend told investigators she was dropped off in the 5200 block of East Yale and MacLean stayed with the stranger. Maclean's friend said this was the last time she saw her.
MacLean's body was found three months later with no visible signs of trauma in a secluded area near Hwy 285 and Surrey Rd in Jefferson County.

Judy Tina Pillman
October 26, 1986
On October 26, 1986, two fishermen arrived on the west side of Chatfield State Park near South Wadsworth Boulevard to go fishing. Their dog located a body partially covered with brush. Investigation determined that the body was that of 24-year-old Judy Pillman, who had been shot. She was last seen on the evening of October 16, 1986 when she was dropped off near Colfax and Corona streets in Denver for an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, which she did not attend. Pillman was wearing a black leather coat, a blue hooded sweatshirt, and blue jeans. She may have had a brown suitcase and a black radio with her. She had been living with a brother at the Arnold Apartments located at 1235 Washington Street in Denver. She worked for Kayman T-shirts.

Rick VanDuyn
October 19, 1986
Rick VanDuyn, a 27-year-old Genesee resident, was working as a security guard for Evergreen Security on Sunday, October 19, 1986. After picking up the day's proceeds from the Safeway in Conifer, he drove in his marked Evergreen Security car to the Mountain Valley Bank, located in Aspen Park, to make the night deposit. VanDuyn was seen arriving and exiting his vehicle. At 9:35 p.m. automatic gunfire was heard by a Jefferson County Sheriff's Deputy in the nearby RTD parking lot. The deputy went toward the area of the gunfire and saw a full size Ford pickup, with possible "running lights" on the cab, leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The deputy followed the truck northbound on Highway 285, but lost sight of the vehicle in the thick fog, at about South Turkey Creek Road. The Deputy continued northbound on Highway 285. At 9:42 p.m. the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from the bank, indicating that a man was down. Two deputies responded and found VanDuyn shot outside of his vehicle. VanDuyn had been shot by a .223 caliber weapon.
A $40,000 reward for information that helps identify and prosecute the killer(s) of Rick VanDuyn is currently being offered by FOHVAMP (Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons, Inc.) Denver Metro Crime Stoppers is also offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and acceptance of a case by the District Attorney's Office.

Dellmer Betts
April 27, 1986
On Sunday, April 27, 1986, hikers found the body of a white male in a drainage ditch at Highway 6, about 4.5 miles west of Highway 58. The body was identified as 29-year-old Dellmer Betts, who had recently been released from prison after serving time for a narcotics violation. He was an admitted drug user and seller. Betts was reportedly last seen on Friday, April 25, 1986, at a residence near 34th and Lawrence in Denver, where he was temporarily staying. Betts was wearing blue jeans, bright orange socks, and a blue T-shirt when found. Betts' brown briefcase was not recovered.

Mark Groezinger
April 7, 1984
On the morning of April 7, 1984, deputies responded on a report of a body lying on the front seat of a parked vehicle at Mother Cabrini Shrine, located near I-70 and Highway 40 in Golden. Deputies arrived on scene and found the body of Mark Groezinger lying in the front seat of his vehicle, a 1973 Buick two-door, blue and white. Groezinger had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Jewelry and keys were taken from the vehicle. Investigators learned that Groezinger was last seen at his residence by his wife and a family friend on April 6, 1984, at about 8:30 p.m., at which time he said he was going to play pool at a local bar. Groezinger worked in Denver for a concrete coring company and enjoyed motorcycle riding and playing pool at local taverns.

Jeannie Moore
August 30, 1981
On August 25, 1981, Jeannie Moore left her home for work at the Tenneco gas station at 13th and Wadsworth. As usual, she began hitchhiking at the on-ramp from Harlan to westbound I-70 at about 7:10 am. An employee and a customer at a nearby gas station where she purchased cigarettes, as well as other nearby witnesses, saw a vehicle pull over. Moore tried the passenger door of the vehicle and appeared to have problems, and the driver leaned over and opened it from within. The vehicle was possibly a 1969 to 1970 red Ford LTD or Galaxy, possibly having a black vinyl top. Moore was wearing blue jeans and a peach colored sweater, carrying a brown leather purse with a mushroom design and blue bandana for a strap.
On August 30, 1981, Moore’s body was found by picnickers in Genesee Park south of I-70. An autopsy showed death was caused by blows to the head.

Elvin Fuster
July 13, 1981
On July 13, 1981, in the late afternoon, a resident of the 4000 block of Easley Road in Golden reported that he observed what appeared to be a dead body on his property. The Sheriff's Office responded and found the body of Elvin Victor Fuster, a 19-year-old male who had been shot to death at that location.
Sheriff's Office investigation revealed that Fuster had moved to Denver from Seattle about 1 months prior and was living in the 1100 block of Downing Street in Denver. Fuster had been working at Josephine's Restaurant in Larimer Square as a dishwasher prior to his death. According to friends of Fuster, he had been assaulted in Denver after a dance at La Fiesta in the days before his murder. Friends indicated the assault was motivated by drugs or a domestic-type argument.
Fuster was found wearing blue jeans and a white ruffle shirt. Neighbors in the 4000 block of Easley reported seeing a suspicious vehicle, described as a dark colored Chevrolet Camaro (see example here) in the early morning hours of the 13th of July.

Anthony "Tony" Yanish -- SOLVED
March 10, 1981
On March 10, 1981, a jogger discovered a body in the 4500 block of Easley Road, adjacent to the road. The body was later identified as Anthony "Tony" Yanish, a 29-year-old man from Paonia, Colorado. He had been shot. Yanish was clothed in jeans, a blue jacket, a blue shirt, and work boots. Yanish had last been seen in Glenwood Springs at several locations on the evening of March 9. Yanish had been employed as a coal miner at the Hawk's Nest Mine and was off for a few days due to a work stoppage protesting black lung disease.

UPDATE 07/06/2010
Christopher Davis Sorensen pled guilty to accessory to first degree murder in the shooting death of Anthony Yanish. He was sentenced on on July 6, 2010 to two years of work release and six years intensive supervision probation. The investigation revealed that the shooter was David Minerich, who died in 2004.
Linda Hutchings
September 1, 1979
On September 1, 1979 a family picking cattails found a body down an embankment, near Indiana and West 82nd Avenue. The body was later identified as Linda Hutchings, a 17-year-old Arvada resident. Linda had been reported missing to Arvada Police Department on August 15, 1979. Linda was last seen at a friend’s apartment in Lakewood where in the early morning hours of August 15 she left a note indicating she was headed home. Friends believed she had intended to hitchhike.
Linda was last seen wearing white jeans, a white peasant-style top with embroidery, and tennis shoes. She may have been wearing a red coat. John Lilly
July 2, 1979
On July 2, 1979, at about 9:30 p.m., drivers along West 64th Avenue, about ½ mile west of Easley, found a man's body in the road. The body was identified as 27-year-old John Lilly, who had died of gunshot wounds. Lilly was known to sell drugs. He had left his mother's home in Greeley early that morning in his two door gray Mercedes. The Mercedes was left along the road near Lilly's body. Lilly was wearing blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.

Craig Kadow
November 15, 1978
On November 26, 1977, Craig Kadow was reported missing. He had been temporarily separated from his wife and living alone in a cabin he was helping to finish in the Brook Forest Estates area. He last spoke to his mother in Wisconsin by telephone on Saturday, November 19, 1977 at about 8:00 p.m. Numerous items belonging to Kadow were discovered missing from his residence. Kadow was known to have been selling marijuana, hashish and cocaine in the Denver metro area.
Kadow's body was located off of Highway 285 near the Stage Stop Campground at Windy Point, on November 15, 1978. Kadow had been shot with a small caliber firearm.

In 2010, investigators identified two persons involved in the murder. However, both are deceased.

Discovered February 13, 1977
On February 13, 1977, hikers discovered a body in a military-type, mummy style sleeping bag, about 100 feet over the embankment from US Highway 285, a mile south of Colorado Highway 8. An autopsy indicated that the body had been there for 30 to 60 days prior to being discovered. The man was possibly Native American Indian, 20 to 24 years old, 5'7" to 5'8" tall, 125 to 145 pounds. The man had dark brown or black hair about 5" in length. The man had size 5 feet. The man had suffered blows to the head. The identity of the man was never determined. Dental records are available.
An investigation revealed that in mid-December 1976, a male had come to the door of the nearby Twin Forks Motel in Tiny Town asking to use a phone to obtain a ride to Littleton. The man had several minor cuts to his face, which were bleeding. He indicated that he had been in a fight with his brother and the brother made him get out of the car. The man indicated that he had kicked out the windshield in his brother's car. The man used the phone, but did not reach anyone. He was clothed only in a shirt and pants on a very cold night. The witness provided him a coat, and the man returned a short time later, apparently with his brother and returned the coat. Jarl Hoffman
May 19, 1976
On May 19, 1976, at about 2:58 a.m., Jarl Hoffman, a 21-year-old inmate at the Camp George West Honor Camp, was playing a game of billiards in the recreation building with other inmates. While inside the building Hoffman was shot by someone from outside, near Old Golden Road. A vehicle was seen speeding away. Nearby, five dogs were shot, two other dogs shot at, and other gunshots were fired within a few hours before and after the homicide. Witnesses indicated that more than one person was in the vehicle involved in the shootings.

Melanie "Suzy" Cooley
May 2, 1975
On April 15, 1975, Melanie "Suzy" Cooley left Nederland High School where she was a senior. She was last seen hitchhiking in Nederland. A road maintenance worker found her body on May 2, 1975, in Coal Creek Canyon. Suzy was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue jean jacket with an embroidered eagle on the back, and tan colored boots. Cooley had been hit over the head repeatedly with a large rock.

Frederich H. Cassel
December 11, 1972
On November 3, 1972, Frederich H. Cassel began to complain of chest congestion. On November 9, 1972 Cassel was admitted into the hospital, and, after feeling better, was released on November 30, 1972. Cassel was re-admitted to the hospital on December 8, 1972, complaining of shortness of breath and chest congestion. Cassel died in the hospital on December 11, 1972.
An autopsy was performed, and the toxicology report reflected that Cassel had been poisoned to death. Cassel lived in the Applewood area and worked in General Service Administration at the Federal Center in Lakewood. Cassel had worked in San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., and had top secret security clearance. Prior to Cassel's death he talked with fellow employees about unusual things happening in his life, and recorded them in a diary.

Discovered August 27, 1972
On August 27, 1972, skeletal remains were located on Forest Road 554, about one mile east of the Park/Jefferson county line. The remains were determined to be that of a female, about 17 to 23 years of age, between 5' and 5'3" tall, with dark brown hair. The body had been there for one to three years. Located with the body was a pair of gold colored earrings, small pearl buttons, and a brass button. A black pair of shoes, about size 6.5, described as having one-inch heels and buckles were also located with the body. The body was never identified.

Hollis “Jim” Corriveau, Sr.
November 11, 1970
On Sunday, November 11, 1970, residents located a body in a ditch at the 4900 block of South Wadsworth. The body was identified as 46-year-old Hollis “Jim” Corriveau Sr.
Corriveau was last seen at about 8 pm on the evening of November 10, 1970 when he left the motel he owned and lived in -- the Shangra-La at 2145 South Santa Fe -- to go to federal auction. Corriveau was wearing a dark green suit coat, black pants, a blue shirt, and an orange and green tie. He was also wearing a toupee. Corriveau’s 1969 blue Ford pickup truck was located in the parking lot of the Sands Bar at 1050 West Evans.

Joyce Neill
April 13, 1969
On April 13, 1969, a family picnicking found the body of 17-year-old Joyce Neill about 3 miles up Golden Gate Park Road from the Crawford Gulch turn off. Neill's body was located down an embankment from the road. Neill had moved to Denver from Arizona. She was working as a nurse's aid at Mercy Hospital and living in a house in Denver with several roommates. Neill had been stabbed, possibly with a long knife.
On April 10, 1969 at about 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. Neill had been dropped off at City Park near the lake. According to witnesses Neill had been associating with motorcycle gangs lately, possibly the Husky Hustlers or Iron Horseman. Neill was wearing white Levi's, a navy blue/white striped shirt, and reddish brown moccasin boots.

Discovered March 24, 1966
On March 24, 1966, a man out on a drive located a male baby wrapped in blue cloth. The man had stopped in a pull out two miles south of Simms on Alameda and saw the baby down an embankment. The newborn baby was determined to have been full term, and had died of exposure. It appeared that the body had been there for two or three days. The baby was wrapped in a blue cloth with a flower print. The umbilical cord was still attached and had not been tied and had been torn from the placenta. The mother might have suffered from uterine bleeding following the birth. Also found in the cloth was a pattern piece for a "Simplicity" pattern for a doll dress. The Doe Network

Elie Phil Boisvert
June 9, 1965
On June 9, 1965 about 2:00 pm neighbors in the 1800 block of Cody Street heard yelling and went outside to discover Elie Boisvert had been cut and was yelling at a male to leave. Witnesses described the man as a black male, 35 to 40 years of age, about six feet tall, wearing a dark colored suit, dark shoes and a dress hat. The suspect ran south on Cody, east on 18th to Carr and south on Carr to Colfax. Mr. Boisvert confirmed the male had been the one to cut him. Mr. Boisvert died as a result of the incident.

Margaret "Peggy" Beck
August 18, 1963
On August 18, 1963 Margaret "Peggy" Beck, a 16-year-old Girl Scout aide, was discovered dead at the Flying G Ranch Girl Scout camp, near Deckers. Beck had been sleeping alone in a tent near many other campers. Beck had been sexually assaulted and strangled.

Rosetta Witt
October 2, 1961
On October 2, 1961 at about 10:44 a.m., 74-year-old Rosetta Witt was shot in her small grocery store attached to her home, at 5050 Carr Street. Money was missing from the cash register. Shortly before the shooting a white male (depicted in the composite drawing), about 30 to 35 years of age, 5'8" to 5'10", 165 to 175 pounds, was seen in the store. The man had dark hair in a pompadour style, and appeared to need a shave. He was wearing a windbreaker type jacket, dark pants, and brown heavy work boots. The man got into a two-tone blue or bluish green 50 to 54 Oldsmobile type car. A white female about 25 to 30 with short dark hair was in the car.

Nora Lois Coursey
July 9, 1957
The body of 30 year old Nora Lois Coursey was found on July 9, 1957, about a mile west of Phillipsburg on Colorado State Highway 124 (Deer Creek Canyon Road). Coursey had been missing since June 19, 1957 when she attended an afternoon birthday party with her daughter. She left the party at about 3:00 p.m., in Englewood, to go to a shopping area to buy napkins, possibly near 33rd and Broadway.
Coursey was last seen wearing a pink blouse with sequins; a pink, gray and white floral skirt; white high-heeled sandals, and a white purse. She was driving her 1950 Hudson. She may have been seen after leaving the party at a Woolworth store at the Englewood Shopping Center and at Roxie's Tavern located near Hampden and Santa Fe. Her car was found at Colfax & Elm in Denver on June 27, 1957. Coursey normally wore a Bulova watch, with a rectangular face, which was never recovered.

Harold Murphy Cohen
February 11, 1950
On Saturday, November 3, 1949, 38-year-old Harold Murphy Cohen was reported missing to the Denver Police Department. Cohen went by the name of Murphy or "Murph" and was a known gambler and fight referee. He had reportedly attended a ceremonial dinner at Gaetano's in Denver prior to his disappearance. He was last seen wearing a goldish brown cardigan style jacket, a pearl gray sleeveless sweater, a grayish blue pair of trousers, brown shoes and a brown hat.
Cohen was found on February 11, 1950 in what was known as Blue Lake. Blue Lake was located south of Highway 58 at Indiana Street and is now on Coors company property. Cohen's body was found in the lake and had been weighted down, but was hung up on a ledge and thus didn't go to the bottom of the 90-foot-deep lake.
