IMF Executive Directors and Voting Power

Last Updated: November 23, 2011

The Executive Board (the Board) is responsible for conducting the day-to-day business of the IMF. It is composed of 24 Directors, who are appointed or elected by member countries or by groups of countries, and the Managing Director, who serves as its Chairman. The Board usually meets several times each week. It carries out its work largely on the basis of papers prepared by IMF management and staff.

The table below shows quota and voting shares for IMF members. Following the entry into effect of the 2008 Amendment on Voice and Participation on March 3, 2011, quota and voting shares will change as eligible members pay their quota increases. During this process, this table will be updated regularly. Click here for a table illustrating percentage quota and voting shares before and after implementation of the 2008 Amendment on Voice and Participation, and of subsequent reforms of quotas and governance which were agreed in 2010 but are not yet in effect.
