Yankowskas/Coughlin teamed up in 2007. Yankowskas began skating at age 6 because her sister was taking a learn-to-skate class. Yankowskas was a member of the Methuen Ballet Ensemble in Salem, New Hampshire for five years before moving to Colorado Springs to continue her figure skating career. Coughlin started skating at age 5 because his sister was already skating and he tagged along to the rink.
