The International Table Tennis Hall of Fame was established in 1993 to recognize and honor players who distinguished themselves by their outstanding play and contribution to the sport of Table Tennis throughout the world.
ITTF Hall of Fame Chairman, the late Jimmy McClure (USA) was the driving force for the founding of the Hall of Fame, originally proposed in 1991 to ITTF President Ichiro Ogimura. Eligibility for the highest honor in international Table Tennis requires that the player must have won 5 Gold Medals in World Championships or the Olympic Games.
To date 46 players and 3 officials have been enshrined in the Hall. Eligibility is reviewed every 2 years, with induction ceremonies andbanquet held at the World Championships.
