Temple Beth Israel was established in 1861, and has been a member of the Union for Reform Judaism (formerly Union of American Hebrew Congregations) since 1913.

Constructed in 1971, the present building is a handsome and well-maintained home for our worship and activities. Its beautiful sanctuary, social hall, library and school also house several outstanding works of art, including "The Menorah," (silk tapestry by Ben Shahn), "King David," (tapestry by Marc Chagall, shown here), "Mizrach," (paper cut by Cantor Jacob Hochfelder) and "Remembering the Six Million" (bronze sculpture by Frank Eliscu).
