Tour of Tony Award-Winning Musical
42nd Street
Beginning September 2007

42nd Street is regarded as the Broadway musical for people who love Broadway musicals. A classic backstage story, 42nd Street tells of a young actress named Peggy Sawyer who rises from a chorus girl to become a Broadway star.

42nd Street was written by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble. With music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, the musical features such beloved American classic songs as “The Lullaby of Broadway”, “Shuffle Off to Buffalo”, “We’re In the Money”, and the title song, “42nd Street”.

When it first opened on Broadway in 1980, 42nd Street ushered in a new age of theatrical spectacle with a cast of over 50 performers, hundreds of costumes and dozens of lavish stage effects. Based on the 1933 movie of the same name, the original production of 42nd Street ran for 3,486 performances and was nominated for 7 Tony Awards, winning two (including Best Musical). The Broadway revival also went on to win the 2001 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical.

This production of 42nd Street, directed by Mark Bramble and produced by Troika Entertainment and Broadway Asia, will begin a tour of China in Fall 2007. Troika Entertainment was the producer of the recent successful Chinese tour of The Sound of Music, also directed by Mark Bramble.
