Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd (SFIL) is a world leader in supplying total engineering packages to solve industry's needs.

As the world's largest independently owned forgemaster, SFIL specialises in a broad range of heavy steel forgings and steel castings as well as stocking steel ingot and bar.

During its 200 year history SFIL has produced some of the largest bespoke engineered products in the world and has the capacity for steel castings of up to 350 tonnes and steel forgings of up to 200 tonnes.

SFIL use a proprietary offshore steel grade CSN400, which is a low alloy, readily weldable steel. It is widely accepted by all the major oil companies and contractors worldwide and is complemented with an extensive portfolio of pre-qualified material data.

The company continues to supply an increasing global demand for high quality engineered products to key industries such as defence, nuclear, oil and gas exploration, power generation, marine and construction.

Sheffield Forgemasters' subsidiary company Vulcan SFM taps into the diverse wealth of expertise carried by SFIL to provide specialist services ranging from design consultancy to engineering production solutions, contract management, outsourcing and acquisition and has particular expertise in providing steel castings and steel forgings for use in offshore structures.

Vulcan's expertise has also been applied to buildings and bridges, and is relevant to all heavy steel manufacture requiring design or contract management.

Vulcan is also the world's leading supplier of large, safety-critical steel castings to the offshore industry. It has designed and manufactured more than 50,000 tonnes of components.
