Nintendo's popular Punch-Out!! arcade series moved to the NES with a Mike Tyson license. You play as Little Mac, a lightweight boxer who wants to win the WVBA Boxing belt. To do so, he has to fight through a series of boxers from around the world until he reaches the WVBA champion, Mike Tyson.
Each boxer uses a different strategy to win their respective games, and it's up to you to learn how to avoid their hits and knock them out. Another version of this game was released with Mike Tyson removed after criminal charges were brought against him.
Reissue Changes
There are two different versions of this game available. The original was released as "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!" and starred you as Little Mac as you fought your way through to the ultimate showdown with Mike Tyson.
When the game came to be rereleased in 1990 as part of the Classic Series, the game had been renamed Punch-Out!! and the cover art had changed. The game itself had also been altered, with Mike Tyson edited out completely. In his place at the end of the game was a new champion: Mr. Dream (who fought in exactly the same way as Tyson).
