Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling were treated to a star-studded gala performance on the eve of their wedding as a reunited Roxette brought the audience to its feet Stockholm at Stockholm Concert Hall.

Thunder, lightning and torrential rain preceded the festivities as the Parliament put on a show in honour of the Crown Princess and her fiancé on Friday evening.

Royals mingled with politicians and heads of industry on an evening filled with laughter, music, dancing, and even the occasional tear.

The Crown Princess wore a long evening gown while Daniel Westling looked dashing in his tuxedo as the couple settled into their seats for two hours of pure entertainment.

The Royal Philharmonic Ochestra was accompanied over the course of the evening by opera singer Malena Ernman, along with popular singers Helen Sjöholm and Peter Jöback.

But the wildest applause was reserved for pop duo Roxette, as Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle reunited on stage to perform ‘The Look’, the 1989 hit that brought the pair their international breakthrough. The group also sang together in Belgium last year but their live appearances have been very rare in recent years. Gessle remains a huge star in Sweden, where his solo performances draw sell-out crowds.

The evening concluded with a children’s choir from the Adolf Fredrik School of Music singing ‘I morr’n är det bröllopskalas’ (‘The wedding party is tomorrow’). Queen Silvia was seen to shed a few tears when two soloists walked away from the group and sang directly to the Crown Princess and her husband-to-be.

Three things :

1 ) Victoria looked very happy . 9 points

2 ) Rexette´s vocals sounded terrible ! 1 point for the noise

3 ) Sweden is the only modern nation which does not invite black-artists on night like this. -0 point .
17:41 June 19, 2010 by Valdemaratterdag
Jes,

Which black, Swedish artist do you suggest?
20:09 June 19, 2010 by Jes
Valdemaratterday ,

are you saying that there is not a single black Swedish artists in Sweden worth taking part is 3 hour music show ?

Maybe that is why I wondered .
22:36 June 19, 2010 by Valdemaratterdag
Jes,

I'm not suggesting anything.

You made a statement regarding black artists. I'm wondering which black Swedish artists you would suggest.

Well?

Give me a break, what in the heck does the color of a person have to do with her wedding? @Jes, are you looking for something to gripe about or what? Get a life, how about your own for a change and let the lovebirds be happy. There is a king in Africa who marries many women, has many wives. Did he invite Victoria and Daniel to his many weddings? Didn't think so.

I easily came up with 3 suggestions for black artists that all would have been appropriate:

1. Dr Alban

2. Feven

3. Ken Ring

Especially the last one shared some interesting views on the Royal family a few years back. Although it also seem to have ended his long and prosperous career.
13:10 June 20, 2010 by Jes
Thank you @krattan . To that list I can add one lady called Peters , She has made her artistic contribution to Swedish society for more than 20 years .

There is also a another lady whose name I hesitate to spell .( it sounds like Le gaila ) . She usually performs on Victorias birth-days , sometimes with a pianist called Robert Wells . If she is good enough to perfom on Victorias birth day party , she should be good enough to be one of the 20 or so artists that took part on Victorias wedding day .

There are other pupular black singers such as Blossom , Kayo , Titiyo and others . These are not from Botswana , they are SWEDES !

As for you Sherian Elizabeth , I suspect that you have a problem. Sorry , I can`t help you with that . What I can do is to tell you that my point was not that an African King should have been invited to this wedding . I was talking about Swedish artists that happen to be black . Sweden is a modern nation , and for that reason , among others , it should be expected to reflect its " diversity " on an occasiion like this . It didn`t !

BTW . I noted that Victoria looked happy . Surely , there must be somebody who understands that , with that remark , I was saying that I was also happy for her .
14:32 June 20, 2010 by Valdemaratterdag
None of which are on the level of Roxette, or certainly not on the level required of a royal wedding.

Interesting choice with Ken Ring, who suggested raping princess Madeleine. That sure would have gone over well with the royal family, I'm sure.
14:55 June 20, 2010 by Jes
Valdemaratterdag ,

now you are getting petty ! Roxette`s level is not the issue here. If it were , I would argue that they used to be . In fact , I said that their vocals are horrible as of now . I suppose that they were there because they represented something .

But if noise is what was "required of a royal wedding" then I get your point .

Still , I insist that the line up was not particularly representive of the present music culture, in the kind of Sweden ( and the World ) that Victoria and her husband have grown in . Its should be simple to notice .
