Back in 2011?
Hungary: Duna TV to broadcast all three Eurovision shows
Although Duna Televizio are not full EBU members yet, the second Hungarian state channel will be broadcasting both Eurovision song Contest semi finals and the grand final. Ever since their debut in 2007, Magyar Televisio (MTV) were the ones in charge of the Hungarian participation until forced to withdraw in 2010 due to budget cuts. Duna TV Cultural Vice President Ms Szabo Magda stated that it is very important to maintain and even grow local interest in the contest as well as take part next year.
Duna Televizio, who also broadcast to North America and Australia via satellite, already expressed interest to send a Hungarian representative to Oslo but, as they are not yet full members of the EBU, this was not possible. "It is important to emphasise that only EBU members can take part in the contest." stated Ms Szabo, "in Hungary, Magyar Televízió is the member TV station, Duna Televízió is an approved participant member." Mrs Szabo went on to explain that Duna Televizio would like to follow the example of other countries such as Russia, where two national broadcasters take turns in sending an entry to the Eurovision Song Contest: "We don't want to take away the chance from Magyar Televízió forever, but could take it over with great pleasure. The most important is to show the contest to Hungarian viewers and to vote and support for a Hungarian participant in Eurovision 2011!".
Special thanks to Klész Imre of ESC Hungary for his assistance.

I hope that Hungary will be back next year with a great song !! I miss them very much this year !!!
good news. I wish a British channel would snatch Eurovision off the clueless BBC.
Hungarians are awesome, great that they will se the 3 shows still waiting for new about TVE Spain
nagyon jó! a Duna TV a legjobb magyar kanál, szerintem!
Ohhh, I wasn't aware that two Russian broadcasters take turns in sending an entry. I hope Hungary do this too or at least I hope they will be back next year.
I'm so happy about this news ! this is the only country I'd like to see back in the contest !
See you next year, Hungary!
vote for Poland all countries from central europe will come back
I miss Hungary and Italy (and pretty much every other country who once were in the contest, but aren't anymore... and it's always interesting with new countries, so welcome everyone
)
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
i really really hope Hungary return
czech republic paricipated 3 times, and 3 times they reached last place in semi. they received 1 point in 2007, 9 points in 2008 and 0 points in 2009. the songs aren't so good to be in TOP10, but they surely didn't deserved for 10 points during 3 years ;] so that's why they withdraw, it's not about money. and it's also with hungary and austria. they sent good songs, which were underrated (get a life, candlelight). Who wants to take part in contest where you've got no chances for win unless you are from Scandinavia, Yugoslavia or USRR....
actually- participate at esc doesn't need much money. and even- they could make commercial break with a gain.
Marko
Marko I have already been able to appreciate real serbian real fans taste! As far as I know they gave us 7 points this year good for them! Agree with them!
Dimitri
it's not Greece where all ppl watch it, in Hungary nobody is interested! xD Just remember last year even broadcasters are not interested and made a mes of preselection !
They suck big time when it comes to ESC!
That's coz of low interest.....
Hungary please come back!I loved your 2005 and 2007
entries!I know that you are in a financial mess at the moment but who isn't?
Wow, how great! I have Duna TV !
TVP probably won't broadcast 2nd semi :/
Hungary, you are always welcome to come back!!
i hope. GO armenia e poland http://zepias.blogs.sapo.pt/
I hope they come back next year!
Hope they return!

And...who was the only one country who gave 12 points to Hungary in 2007??
Serbia! You see we vote the best, we vote for quality!
LOL, actually we gave her 12 points coz she is Serbian Hungarian, she was born and lived in Northern Serbia - Subotica, where only Hungarians live! That's why we gave her 12 points!
I have that channel on my telly!
It means Danube TV!
But i don't see point of broadcasting ESC in Hungary when interest is low, even when they participated, and why to do that when they don't participate?
of course i rather prefer a break and then nf where people can choose aswell
Hungary debuted in 1994, not 2007.
And I hope they do return in 2011, they've sent so many good (and generally underrated) songs to the contest, like 1994, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2007 and 2008
So happy
@sanka
Don't you think an internal selection which you don't like and think that it's an ''undemocratical method'' would be better then? The same composer/representant wouldn't be chosen for the 2nd time then ( or maybe not easily )! I personally don't want even 1 country to withdraw, it doesn't matter if new ideas or not, the more countries the better!
the point of the break is to rest , composers are not able to carry on the same way. you say they can change if they want - thats the problem, they just might not have any new ideas, thats the reason of break.
@sanka
And btw, some countries participates because or promoting the singer ( yeah, indeed JUST because of the representant! ), some of them because of promoting the country ( for example Andorra ), and some of them because of the huge interest of the viewers ( especially the Eastern countries )!
@Phantom Matt...And His Guitar
I wouldn't be suprised if we see them back next year.
Highly likely not and even some countries will withdraw next year again because the economical crisis will be worser according to economic-experts! But hopefully Liechtenstein will come back so that would be a little 'solatium' for us ESC-fans!
LOL
