The LIVE 8 concerts taking place around the world will be watched and listen to by more than 2 billion people.

In the UK, the BBC is the host broadcaster for LIVE 8 London with coverage across BBC ONE, TWO and THREE, with radio broadcasts on Radio's 1 and 2, the BBC World Service and across the BBC's regional stations.

Commercial Radio will also be broadcasting live from backstage at Hyde Park and The Museum of Art in Philadelphia, with reporters at every LIVE 8 gig across the world, to an estimated audience of over 28 million listeners across 200+ stations.

Partner TV and Radio broadcasters, such as MTV, will be be working to bring this huge international event to the whole world.

What to take

St. John's Ambulance have provided the following as a guide of what to take with you, to ensure you get full enjoyment out of the concert.

What to pack:

Bottle of water - try not to drink too much alcohol and take a bottle of water. The likelihood of sunstroke is increased if your body is dehydrated

Brimmed hat - sunburn to the face, neck and ears can be easily prevented with headwear that provides shade

Banana & sugar sweets - or a similar food sources will keep energy levels high and prevent symptoms such as nausea

Sun cream - a high factor cream will give you protection from harmful UVA and UVB sunrays which cause sunburn and cancer

Prescribed medication - very important to take any prescribed medication as First Aiders are not allowed to issue drugs

Plasters - you can treat yourself for minor cuts, grazes and blisters

Hay Fever tablets - outdoor events are likely to have high pollen counts so take some anti-histamine if you suffer from Hay Fever

Warm & waterproof clothing - in case the weather isn't as hot as expected!

Chantell Lueshing, from St. John's Ambulance who will be volunteering at LIVE 8, said: 'There's always a great atmosphere at outdoor events but the frivolity can sometimes lead to us being very busy. It's important for attendees at LIVE 8 and the other events to be prepare for different weather conditions and locate the nearest First Aid point just in case it's needed later in the day.'

Tickets for LIVE 8 Tokyo


  1. Go to www.live8.jp
  2. Go to the 'Ticket' tab at top right of screen
  3. Click the red 'Excite' link
  4. You are directed to a dedicated Live 8 Excite page, where you can learn more about why Live 8 is happening, and send a message to the leaders of the G8 about the call to end global poverty.
  5. Link to the 'Terms and Conditions' page and click 'Agree' if you wish to continue the ticket application.
  6. Register to enter the ticket lottery and submit information
  7. You will be given the option to donate any amount of money from 1yen, and after the costs of the concert are met all funds will be donated to Live 8 Trust and Oxfam. This has no bearing on the chances of winning the tickets, which are selected by computer at random.
  8. The closing date for receipt of both ticket lottery applications, and donations, is Wednesday 29th June at 12 midnight.
  9. Winners of the pairs of tickets will be notified by e-mail on Thursday 30th June.
  10. Winners will be given a personalised identification certificate to bring to the venue, along with some personal ID, when the doors open at 12noon on Saturday 2nd July to gain access.

Edinburgh 50,000
The Final Push

This is the final moment; this is the eve of the biggest meeting ever in the fight against poverty.

As the leaders fly into Gleneagles on the evening of Wednesday 6th July, a very special event at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium will signal the end of the Long Walk To Justice and the beginning of the G8 Summit.

Hosted by Lenny Henry and Peter Kay, the event will include some of music’s biggest names such as Annie Lennox, Snow Patrol, Travis, The Sugababes, Ronan Keating, Beverly Knight, The Corrs, Natasha Bedingfield, Proclaimers, Texas, Youssou N’Dour, McFly, Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and African artists from Peter Gabriel’s WOMAD plus a line up of very special speakers.

Stagecoach backs the long walk to justice with 1,000 bus seats

A convoy of a dozen megabus.com double-deckers will travel from London to Scotland on 5th July, arriving in Edinburgh on the morning of the Edinburgh 50,000 - The Final Push gig. The buses will return to London on the evening of 6 th July after the gig has ended.
