"An enormous production"

Eurovision Song Contest 2010 dates confirmed

The host city as well as the dates for the 55th edition of the Eurorovision Song Contest have now been confirmed by the EBU and NRK although the exact venue remains still to be decided.

As announced today by the EBU and host broadcaster NRK, the final dates for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest will be Tuesday 25 May and Thursday 27 May for the semi finals, the Grand Final will take place on Saturday 29 May, 2010 in Oslo. The final decision on the venue is still to be made. According to NRK two options are being considered for the venue of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest: the Telenor Arena in Fornebu which can host up to 23.000 spectators and the Oslo Spektrum, the home of the MGP final, which is much smaller with a capacity of 9.000 spectators.

"It is a great honour for NRK to host the Eurovision Song Contest once again. Together with our colleagues of the EBU we are determined to organise this event in line with the highest standards," said Hans-Tore Bjerkaas, Chief Executive of NRK. Norway is already quite experienced in the organisation of the Eurovision Song contest having hosted it twice before in 1986 and 1996, as well as having hosted Junior Eurovision in 2004.

"We are looking forward to work with NRK on this enormous production. One year from now, they will have the opportunity to show Europe and the world what they are capable of," said Svante Stockselius, Executive Supervisor of the contest on behalf of the EBU.

LOL, I thought some pics are Paris, but some are from Norway! :)
WOW those beaches are fantastic! I can put second pic on the desctop background! ;)

Marko:
Hehe ;) I don't think any of the pics from the second video was from Norway. Didn't you see the Eifel Tower and Arc de Triomphe among others? :P ;)

Would you imagine we had beaches like this in Norway? (It really is in Norway, hehe) :)

Besides...the best music comes from the 80's...hehe ;)

Marko:
Don't laugh at me...hehe :P I meant a modern 2010 version of "Fra Lippo Lippi"...not the old one from the 80's...(that was just to show who they were..) hehe ;)

@ Sara
They had big hits in the late 80's (also abroad)

LOL Sara we want smth modern! :D :D

How great it would be if these guys (new wave/synth-pop band) called "Fra Lippo Lippi" (from Nesodden, the same place as Alexander has grown up) could get together and enter ESC for Norway in 2010 :) They had big hits in the late 80's (also abroad) :D

Shouldn't have to be like that

@w g: EBU has told many many times that the televotes will NOT be published... but what the broadcasters choose to do themselves with their countries televotes is up to them...

my god - sometimes it feels like noone here actually are reading the articles...

Kush Athens:
So anyone got any ideas to who might open the televoting next year (that is if Norway restarts it!)
I think .... Andreas Thorkildsen (Javelin Thrower).
(I don't know any other Norwegians, or at least I don't think I do!)

Here are my nominees:
If its going to be an athlete I agree with Eurovizz... Our beloved Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be a very good choice (the striker with 126 goals for Manchester-United in 11 years, the super-sub or the babyfaced assassin as he was called...hehe). When he retired last year he got a testimonial match with 70 000 spectators at Old Trafford. He is now the coach for the reserve team of Man-U. He has also received a place in the honorable list of Man-United's legends of all time (along with Bobby Charlton, George Best, David Beckham, Eric Cantona among others) :) Solskjaer is together with Sir Bobby Charlton appointed as the official ambassadors of Manchester United.

http://news.bbc.co.u(...)lskjaer99_getty.jp g

Aksel Lund Svindal (alpine skier, 2 time overall winner of the world cup, 3 gold medals World championship, one silver and one bronze).
http://www.worldcup.(...)allery_742_large.jpg

Thor Husovd (a 6 time Tour de France stage winner and one time Green jersey overall winner). http://www.steephill(...)4-victory-salute.jpg .

If its going to be a musician or other "famous" persons:
Morten Harket or A-ha are good choices (even though Morten was the host in 1996) [url= http://www.redmoonre(...)rabilia/aha-card.jpg

Natassia Malthe (Hollywood actress and model with a Norwegian father) [url= http://www.22dakika.(...)malthe-picture-1.jpg

Kristanna Loken from Terminator 3 (all her grandparents are Norwegian) [url= http://www.elroyonli(...)istannaloken_002.jpg

Paris Hilton (or maybe not) LOL! ..she is of Norwegian ancestors too (her great-great-grandfather was Norwegian)….hehe. :P (no need to post a picture of her) :D

…. LOL! I went a bit too far now (with the last 3 mentioned), I know….hehe.

Ups…so sorry about the long post….

Well, all very exciting, but we still haven't had the full results of ESC 2009 yet, almost two weeks after the event.

So I ask again: is the EBU going to publish the full televoting and jury votes for both the final and semi finals? And if not, why not?

Furthermore, didn't the rules state that the identities of the juries in all the countries should be revealed before or during the final? Where are these lists of names?

The EBU must have all of this information and it wouldn't be a huge technological or administrative feat to publish it all on eurovision.tv. Any answers from them at all about this, esctoday?

i love the dates. but pls choose a big arena!!
oslo is an expensive city.

Eurovizz:
Btw, NRK has stated that their production of ESC 2010 will be big as an Opening ceremony for the Olympics and as many Norwegians know (def. Sarytale that sportaholic), NRK is the greatest channel to coverage when it comes to the Olympic Games

LOL!! YES, I am a sportaholic...hehe :P And YES NRK is the greatest channel to cover big events :D

And last, but not least, YES WE CAN!! :D

Alexander Rybak is going to be one of the judges in tonight's final of Belarussian Pop Idol

How cool!! :D Where does he get all his energy from? It has been a non-stop ride since february for him. :)

About the most expensive city...

There is a report with a very involved formula that incorporates a lot of factors when determining the "Most Expensive City".

Oslo WAS the most expensive city in 2008...but it has since dropped...

The most expensive European city is....(drum roll)

Paris, France! Only Tokyo and Osaka-Kobe are more expensive. Followed by: Copenhagen (4th), OSLO (5th), Zurich (6th), Frankfurt & Geneva (7th-tie) and Geneva (9th). Moscow isn't even in the Top 10.

So if you think Moscow was expensive, just hope Paris doesn't host ESC for a while...

yeah, i couldn't stand the postcards or the model's poses and hair..it had no taste whatsoever...not to mention that the Trojan Horse was a symbol on top of the model's head that represented Turkey's entry...have they ever read Homer's Iliad?

I'm so excited that Norway is going to host the contest next year. i have absolute faith in norwegian taste, i just know you're so elegant..you should show you amazing sceneries. i saw the Atlantic Road in a commercial the other day, and i was stunned...

you should also make a show around your beautiful mythology and history..i just love Norway!!! love from greece!

Kush Athens [34162]
Thu 28 May 2009 02:51:23

@layla

I agree! I couldn't tell the difference with each of the postcards!!! They all looked the same untill you saw the model's t-shirt- which had different colours to represent the country'd flag!

And a mythological logo would be impressive - like athens 2004 olympic logo!

Well it is better to have it late than to have it clash with the stupid football. So I am just happy they changed the dates.

They will obviously have to go with the Telenor Arena now. It is the biggest, but Spektrum is better located. It is a bit embarrassing we don't have great and big venues to impress with, but maybe it could give a better, intimate feeling more like in the older years. LOL! I'd love the orchestra to be back too, to have live music again.

I wonder what they will use as a logo, I hope no ugly modern stuff. Maybe a vikingship's front/head or something out of fairytales or mythology. Just no trolls - please!

Ooooh, I'd totally love it if the "celebrities" to present the votes would be Dimmu Borgir or something, ha ha. I hope for good hosts with humour and personality, a nice Norwegian-like logo and some diversity. I really wish they'd have postcards which showed either the artists or something from every country like they did before. The postcards this year were awful, too modern and barely resembled the countries at all. The model was an annoyance.

@DAVID PERHAM
So don't drink alcohol then...

@ Lily Bel

Thanks for that... I couldn't remember exactly who it was last year.

Would've been great for someone famous in Russia to open the televoting. (The interval act during the finals was really strange! - luck for them it was after the televoting closed!)

So anyone got any ideas to who might open the televoting next year (that is if Norway restarts it!)

I think .... Andreas Thorkildsen (Javelin Thrower).

Last year in Belgrade first semifinal it was Novak Djokovic tennis player! (L) :) In the second sermifinal was first ESC winner Lys Assia from Switzrland and in the final it was Vlade Divac - basketball player! ;)

Kush Athens [34162]

Hey I just remembered something....!

In Kiev 2005 Masha and Pasha said that they are starting a tradition, that they hope that future host cities would follow. The new tradition was getting celebrities from the host country to open the televoting...
so in 2005 it was the boxing brothers: Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko
in 2006, Athens: Nana Mouskouri
in 2007, Helsinki: Santa Claus
in 2008, Belgrade: (in the semi I remember it as Novak- the tennis player) finals...can't remember

But my point is that in both the Semi finals and Finals the presenters opened the televotes!!! so is this tradition finished?, or will Norway restart it?!
