MTA Bus Service Changes

Brooklyn

BM1 CUSTOMERS
EFFECTIVE MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2009

In an effort to provide faster and more direct service, the BM1 travel path through Mill Basin and Bergen Beach, Brooklyn will be revised. This revision will streamline the current circuitous travel path through this area by providing more direct service.

Westbound BM1 trips to Manhattan will operate from northbound East 66th Street via Avenue U, Veterans Avenue, Avenue N, and Ralph Avenue, resuming the regular route.

Eastbound BM1 trips to Mill Basin will operate from southbound Ralph Avenue via Avenue N, Veterans Avenue, East 71st Street, Avenue U, and East 66th Street, resuming the regular route.

The BM1 bus stops on Mill Avenue at Avenue T will be discontinued in both directions. Customers may use bus stops on Ralph Avenue at Avenue N instead, or transfer to/from the B47, which will continue to serve these bus stops (transfer at no additional charge with a MetroCard). A BM1 bus stop will be added on Veterans Avenue at East 66th Street in both directions.

Other BM1 bus stops in this area will be relocated to nearby locations to be consistent with the revised travel path, as listed below:

Effective Monday, November 17, 2008

In an effort to provide faster, more reliable service through Kensington, Brooklyn and avoid traffic congestion along Church Avenue, the shared non-stop travel paths of the BM1 and BM2 will be revised.

The westbound (to Manhattan) travel path will be revised to continue north on Coney Island Avenue and use Park Circle to travel to the Prospect Expressway, and then via the regular route.
The eastbound (to Mill Basin/Canarsie/Spring Creek) travel path will be revised to use Caton Avenue to travel from McDonald Avenue to Coney Island Avenue, and then via the regular route.

This change is only on the non-stop portions of the routes and therefore, all current bus stops will remain unchanged.

BM1, BM2, BM3, BM4

Mon, Oct 13, 2008 until Fall 2009

Because of reconstruction on Park Place between Church St and Broadway, BM1, BM2, BM3 and BM4 buses are rerouted over Warren St.

Northbound
BM1, BM2, BM3 and BM4 buses leave their regular routeson Church St at Warren St, travel on Warren St to Broadway, then return to their regular routes along Broadway.

EFFECTIVE SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2009

The stopping pattern of the Q100 Limited will be revised to provide three additional bus stops in each direction. This revision will provide additional and faster travel options along 21st Street in Astoria and Long Island City. The Q100 Limited will now serve the following additional bus stops:

EFFECTIVE SUNDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2008

In an effort to provide faster, more reliable, and more direct service through East New York, Brooklyn. The eastbound Q8 travel path (toward Jamaica) will be revised.

The eastbound Q8 will travel from Sutter Avenue to Pitkin Avenue using Logan Street instead of Montauk Avenue, and then via the regular route.

The bus stop on Sutter Avenue at Logan Street will be relocated across Logan Street to the northeast corner. In response to customer requests, a bus stop will be added on Pitkin Avenue at Logan Street for customers accessing the Q8 from the west.

The westbound Q8 travel path (toward Spring Creek) will remain unchanged.

Q39
Effective Monday, November 17, 2008

Due to the permanent closure of 45th Road between Jackson Avenue and 23rd Street in Long Island City for construction of an enclosed subway transfer between the 45 Rd-Court House Sq 7 station and the Long Island City-Court Square G station, the westbound
Q39 travel path in Long Island City will be revised.

The westbound Q39 travel path (from Ridgewood to Queens Plaza) will be revised to continue south on Jackson Avenue, west on 45th Avenue, north on 23rd Street, and then via regular route. The current westbound Q39 travel path via 45th Road will be discontinued.

The current westbound Q39 bus stop on 23rd Street at 45th Road will be discontinued and replaced with a new bus stop on 45th Avenue at 23rd Street (one block north).

The travel path of the eastbound Q39 (from Queens Plaza to Ridgewood) will remain unchanged.

QM1A, QM11, QM24
Buses rerouted at Park Place
Mon, Oct 13, 2008 until Fall 2009

Because of reconstruction on Park Place between Church St and Broadway, QM1A, QM11 and QM24 buses are rerouted over Warren St.

Northbound
QM1A, QM11 and QM24 buses leave their regular routes on Church St at Warren St, travel on Warren St to Broadway, then return to their regular routes along Broadway.

Southbound
No service change.

Q60, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q40, and QM18 CUSTOMERS

In an effort to improve reliability and reduce travel time, several closely-spaced bus stops will be revised on the Q60, Q6, Q8, Q9, Q40 and QM18. Customers should use nearby alternate bus stops.

• The westbound (Manhattan-bound) QM18 bus stop on Queens Boulevard at 66th Avenue will be relocated to Queens Boulevard at 67th Avenue, a current Q60 and QM11 bus stop.

Q21 AND Q11 CUSTOMERS
EFFECTIVE SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 2008

The northern terminus of the Q21 will be extended to Elmhurst (Woodhaven Blvd RVG subway station) to provide direct local bus service between Rockaway Park, Lindenwood, and the entire Cross Bay Boulevard/ Woodhaven Boulevard corridor.

The extended Q21 will be merged with the Q11, using the same travel path, and stopping at all of the same local bus stops as the Q11 between Pitkin Avenue in Ozone Park, and Elmhurst. Current Q11 customers may use either the Q11 or Q21 between Ozone Park and Elmhurst. New combined Q11/Q21 public timetables will be issued (dated Fall 2008) to replace the currently separate timetables.

Most current Q21 bus stops will remain unchanged, with the following exceptions: (1) The current southbound bus stop on Cross Bay Boulevard at Liberty Avenue will be relocated to the north side of Liberty Avenue at the current Q11, Q53 and QM15 bus stop. (2) The recently established last and first stops in Ozone Park at Liberty Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard will be discontinued to allow the Q21 to remain on Cross Bay Boulevard, use the bus stops on Cross Bay Boulevard at Liberty Avenue instead.

Q21 service operates every 30 minutes. Toward Elmhurst the Q21 will operate from 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM on weekdays, and 6 AM to 8:30 PM on Saturdays and Sundays. Toward Rockaway Park the Q21 will operate from 6:30 AM to 9:40 PM on weekdays, and 7:10 AM to 9:40 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.

Q45 CUSTOMERS
EFFECTIVE SUNDAY, AUGUST 31, 2008

The southern terminus of the Q45 will be extended to Glendale and The Shops at Atlas Park to provide service to this shopping center and to provide additional transfer opportunities.

The extended Q45 will use 80th Street to travel between its current southern terminus in Juniper Valley (80th Street at Eliot Avenue) and its new terminus in Glendale (Cooper Avenue at 80th Street). The bus stops on 80th Street at Caldwell Avenue will be relocated to 80th Street at Eliot Avenue in both directions. All other current Q45 bus stops will remain unchanged.
