Collaboration with Patrick Leonard

Greece: Anna Vissi to cover Madonna

The Cypriot Greek mega star Anna Vissi, 3 times Eurovision Song participant (1980 Greece, 1982 Cyprus, 2006 Greece) will record the Madonna world wide hit Frozen in a new acoustic, piano version. As Mad TV Greece reports it will be included in the new album project of the world famous American composer and producer Patrick Leonard, who co created Frozen back in 1998. Patrick Leonard is currently also involved in the new Greek album of Anna Vissi to be released in the beginnings of December. He is the producer of three tracks and he has recently done some remixing on them on a visit in Athens.

It seems that Anna Vissi and Patrick Leonard, who has worked together with some of the biggest international stars such as Pink, Elton John, Bon Jovi, Bryan Ferry, Jeff Beck, Madonna and Laura Fabian(Luxembourg 1988) have been lately closely collaborating. Patrick Leonard is working on two future albums and Anna Vissi will appear on both of them. According to Mad TV Greece again, on one of these two Albums Anna Vissi will sing a piano version of Madonna's Frozen, and on the other album she will sing  two older classic Greek songs, which she has never recorded before. For these two projects Patrick has engaged very big stars from different countries who will perform some of his previously produced big hits for the one album and some very big international hits from their own country for the other.

On 2th of October Anna Vissi appeared together with Patrick Leonard in Kensington Palace in London on a big charity gala event. Anna Vissi performed her version of Frozen together with some classic Greek songs by the internationally acclaimed Greek composer Manos Chatzidakis.

In an interview with the very popular Greek magazine Down Town, Patrick Leonard stated that he and Anna got on very well from the first moment they met in Los Angeles, where she partly lives and records and that they share an excellent chemistry. “…then we started singing” he said, “and that is when I realised that Anna expects from music the same thing as me: to be good. She simply wants to listen and sing to some superb music, nothing else. Well, with such people I want to work”.

Anna Vissi is also still working on her forthcoming English album to be internationally released around summer 2009. Maple Jam Music which has been engaged for the international management of this album ,and Anna has already revealed that it is going to be a rather rock album.

Anna presented on 29th of October a brand new video clip of a newly recorded song with the title To parelthon mou (eng. My past). This track is featured in the original movie souindtrack of the new  Greek comedy Bank Bang. The track will be also featured in her forthcoming Greek album, and although it has not been released as a CD single yet, it has already gained huge radio airplay topping the charts of the main Greek radio stations and it is currently the Number 1 track of the itunes Greece charts.

I like her!! "Frozen" is an amazing track so i can't wait to hear her version!! I don't think she's gonna enjoy international success with her English album but i think her Greek one will have success as it is so much anticipated. The new song is good but i was relieved when i heard her saying that it's not her comeback!

"Frozen"? Nice song (when sung by Madonna)... but isn't that the forbidden Madonna song in Belgium ;) (something about the melody being stolen from some Walloon composer or something)?

Lol, anyhow, Anna Vissi. Don't know her, and .... yah.

This is funny. Anna Vissi has great voice Madonna's voice nothing special, it was her name and image of pop songs made her so popular in 80's , it wouldn't have been possible for her to reach that level if it was now. Let Anna Vissi cover Madonas cheap and irritating voice although Anna is esc failure.

About the supposed plagiarism: I think that the similarity between Madonna's "Frozen" and the Belgian song is purely a co-incidence. Especially when it is such a small portion of the melody that actually resembles the older song. There are so many melodies out there and it would be strange if you wouldn't find compositions that sound the same.

I like Anna Vissi, although I'm not that familiar with all her work. She looks great, she's cool and she also seems to be such a nice and warm person.

Yes Thomas, "Frozen" is taboo in Belgium.

I think a lot of you did not read the article. It says that Anna will cover Frozen as an acoustic version, NOT FOR HER ALBUM, but for a compilation the writer, Patrick Leonard, is putting together.

Anyway, her new Greek album should do well. She has supposodly searched for good songs, and said that "To Parelthon Mou" does not represent the album's sound.

Regarding her English album, from what I read, it is still a work in progress with lots of demos being recorded still with some big names. Just this past month, a new song listing showed up on ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) for Vissi titled "Crime" by Kara Dioguardi.

Oh pls how can someone compare Vissi with Rouvas or all the others..lolllll(maybe she never ended high at eurovision BUT her songs are better than all the last entries we have sended...).
Ofcourse it was a mistake to go at eurovision.."again" BUT for me maybe it was my best moment at eurovision until now(eurovision at Athens with Vissi onstage (L) ....).
To be honest iam waiting for better songs at her album than "my past"....!

Don't mean to burst anyone's bubble here but isn't there this law suit about a Belgian jerk supposedly having written "Frozen" and Madonna "stealing" his demo? I thought the distribution of her album Ray of Light with Frozen included had been prohibited by law in Belgium, even.
