TONY VINCENT WORLD

Tony Vincent auditioned for Jesus Christ Superstar the stage film, and was cast in the part of Simon Zealots.  He was the only American actor cast in the production which was filmed entirely at Pinewood Studios, London, UK.  The production finished in 1999, and in 2000, the first of two editions was released on video and DVD.  The second edition was released in 2001.  Tony's part in the film led him to be cast as Simon Zealots in the Broadway production of the musical which was to run from April to September 2000 at the Ford Centre for Performing Arts, New York City.  However, three weeks before the curtain was due to rise, Tony was offered the lead role of Judas Iscariot.  Tony said of his role in this musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar, even though it's a fictitious take on the Bible, it's my faith and it was like living what grounds me on stage every night".   For his role in this musical he was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle award for 'Best Featured Actor'.

The whole Broadway experience was a valuable opportunity for Tony to get his talent known within the music industry, and sure enough, he was spotted by a major recording label and it looked as though his dream of being a recording artist was about to become reality.  The master of musical theatre himself, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, was also impressed enough to invite him to be a part of a special musical project in Asia - Masterpiece - The Music Of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
