A PLAN FOR SUCCESS
Due to computerization and the extensive development of chess theory, success at the highest level of professional chess requires not only thorough preparation by the contestant, but also substantial research and assistance by a team of seconds who are also top players. Sponsorship for such an effort is essential, and is being provided for the other three finalists by their governments, but state assistance for chess does not exist in the United States. Through this website, our foundation is trying to reach out and enlist the help of all supporters who would like to see an American player reach the pinnacle of global chess, the winning of the world championship.
This website is created by the Gata Kamsky International Chess & Sports Foundation, which is endorsed by the United States Chess Federation. Our short term goal is to assist Grandmaster Gata Kamsky with the hiring of seconds for proper training for the World Championship semi-final match against Veselin Topalov, to be played about December 2008 and then for any other Championship matches. After funds are no longer needed for Gata's preparation, we intend to expand to other charitable purposes.
Success in professional chess due to its computerization, development of human intellectual potential and chess theory, is a direct result of thorough preparation not just by a player but also includes a team of seconds and sponsors. Thru this website Foundation is trying to reach out to all supporters who would like to see an American player at the pinnacle of the chess championship.
GM Kamsky’s outstanding victory at the 2007 World Chess Cup, qualified him to compete in the 2008-09 World Chess Championship. GM Kamsky has been playing without any sponsorship support, unlike three of his competitors: Anand of India, Kramnik of Russia, and Topalov of Bulgaria. All of them are assisted by their respective governments and numerous private sponsors. Thus, it is an immediate goal of the Gata Kamsky International Chess & Sports Foundation to assist Gata with proper training for the Championship matches.
