
In 1993 CHEX TV2 was launched and began originating local news and information programming. In February 2004, the station was rebranded as CHANNEL 12 with a fresh new look, logo and colours.
On April 13, 2000, Corus Entertainment Inc. completed the purchase of a number of radio and television properties belonging to Power Broadcasting Inc. in Ontario and Quebec. Among these were the three conventional TV stations in Oshawa, Peterborough and Kingston - CHANNEL 12, CHEX TV and CKWS TV.
CHANNEL 12 is proud to be part of Durham Region and has been serving the community for over 13 years. CHANNEL 12 is the only local originating television station in the region and, as such, has taken on a leadership role in supporting this community. This station promotes and covers hundreds of events each year through Discover Durham and Community Cruiser. CHANNEL 12s staff is dedicated to the Durham Region and volunteer at various charitable and community events and actively participate on planning committees.
