Heaton Park is recognised as one of the largest municipal parks in Europe. It is a grade II listed landscape set in 260 hectares of woodland and open green space and is nestled in the foothills of the Pennines, yet only 25 minutes from the Games Village and 20 minutes from the city centre. Easily accessible from the city centre by bus or tram, a new sports zone has been provided as part of a £32.2 million restoration programme for the park.
