Annual Report 2005 of the Finnish Olympic Committee released
 
The year 2005 was the first year of the new Olympiad. Finland took part with large teams to the European Youth Olympic Festivals (EYOF), both winter and summer editions, and prepared to participate and compete successfully in Torino 2006 Winter Games. Major chances were made in financial support systems for athletes and coaches. Olympic summer sports began in a new support programme, which thought long term and systematic training support aims at success in Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Youth Programme’s financial support was changed from one year to two years grants and also programme’s selection camps were develop to give more information and valuable advises for young talented athletes and their personal coaches. Also wide development of coach education was started in co-operation with the Finnish Sport Federation, and the Young Finland Association, the Finnish Sport for All Association and the Coaching Association of Finland.(29.5.2006)
