Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time, all the guests were great to meet, and everything went off without a hitch! Special thanks, as always, for the tireless crew who did the shopping, setup, and service -- it's a long, tough job, and that it went so well is a testament to the efforts of the crew!!

Don't Forget to Voice Your Opinions
Posted by bbnewsadmin on 18 Apr 2005
One of the things we tried to add in to the site is numerous places for you to voice your opinions. The photo galleries support comments and votes, so if you particularly like or dislike the pictures there, chime in, and give the pics a vote. And on the articles page, every article has a "COMMENTS [#]" in its bottom right corner. Click that an you can leave your opinion about the article itself! Or you can comment about other people's comments -- it's all about the blogging!

New pics, new articles

Tailgate a Success -- Protest was Perfect!
Posted by bbnewsadmin on 17 Apr 2005
Special thanks to everyone who showed up at the tailgate, and especially to everyone who helped make the protest have the dramatic effect it did. Watching the replay on TV was fantastic -- the black that permeated the stadium was unmistakeable, as was the absence of color from Section 8. Perfect.

And the tailgate was fantastic -- it was great seeing everyone and getting back into the spirit of the season, as hard as that may be without Peter at the helm!

We look forward to seeing everyone at the next tailgate!

Welcome to the New Barnburners.com!
Posted by bbnewsadmin on 12 Apr 2005
A little slow out of the gate, but we've been doing a lot, and still have some more work ahead, but the season is rolling, drama has been unfolding, and we just couldn't wait any longer! So here it is, the new Barnburners.com! Everything is new -- really, we rebuilt the whole site from the ground up on a new server. First and foremost this should mean MUCH more reliable uptime -- so when you need news, we'll be there for ya! But it also has allowed us to add a lot of features to make the site more fun for you, and easier for us to keep updated. Here are some of the new features:

- The home page, and most sub pages, will have more current lists of upcoming events, and important announcements. Watch the home page and the left column for the latest updates!
- Articles, blog style -- we're trying something a little new here. Articles will be published in a blog. This let's us let many authors publish their works on their own; it lets you, the readers, post comments about the works; it keeps an archive of everything posted; it allows the articles to be categorized so you can jump to a particular writer's works if you prefer; and best of all -- everything is searchable!!
- Coppermine based photo gallery! This is really exciting -- Coppermine is the best free app out there for photos. Artists can post their own pics, galleries and thumbnails are automatically generated, you can comment on and rate pictures and the pictures are searchable -- in case you want to track down pics of your favorite Man in Red!
- Chat! We've very excited about this -- a chat application. How many times have you had to miss a match, and wanted to get updates without waiting for [R] posts to BigSoccer? This app will let folks log in and check updates as they happen and are posted!
- Club Calendar -- this will be the master event list that will keep you fully updated on all Barnburner, Fire, and other happenings that you should know about.
- And there are MORE features we haven't even rolled out yet that we plan on springing on you in the coming weeks, all with the goal of really giving you everything the die-hard Fire fan needs!
- On the techie side, the best part is that everything is web-updatable and has user accounts, so we can enlist the aid of dozens of contributors without anyone needing to know arcane things like FTP -- just log in and post new content. It's easier on us, and means more new material for you, the fan!

We hope this all serves you well, since that is our mission! It's been a rough week with the news about Peter, but we will try to get by as best we can!

Cheers all!

The Barnburners!
