Cheerleaders History

SIDELINE EXCITEMENT
Since owner Lamar Hunt brought the Dallas Texans to Kansas City back in the 60’s, women and sometimes men have graced the sidelines, cheering on the Chiefs. Co-ed cheerleaders from the early days gave way to all female Chiefettes in the 70’s. The 80’s brough back men for seven years as the name was changed to Chiefs Cheerleaders. The mid 90’s ushered in an all female group with a heavy emphasis on dance and the dancing Chiefs Cheerleaders continue today. Uniforms, dance, and cheer styles have changed to keep up with the ties, but one thing remains the same: the sidelines have always been filled with some of the best Chiefs fans of all, the Chiefs Cheerleaders!
