DICK BERGGREN
(CBS Sports Reporter)
Berggren joined the CBS Sports racing announce team for the Michigan 400 at Michigan Speedway in 1994. He will be working his sixth Daytona 500 for CBS Sports in 2000. In addition, he serves as executive editor of Speedway Illustrated.
Berggren was a professor of psychology at Emanuel College in Boston after earning a doctorate in psychology from Tufts University.
He readily admits that his arduous educational path was undertaken so he could earn enough money to support his real passion -- auto racing, a sport he fell in love with at age eight when he witnessed his first race. Eventually, Berggren evolved from spectator to driver, taking part in weekend racing at local tracks and winning 26 feature events in sprint and stock cars.
Berggren was born on May 27, 1942 in Westerly, R.I. and now resides in Ipswich, Mass. with his wife, Kathy, and Airdale, Hurricane Joy.
