February is all about old style Hollywood glamour.

Face Value opens at Hong Kong gallery Contemporary by Angela Li on February 9th. The exhibition features work by British artist Nina Fowler who explores the gap between fantasy & reality in classic Hollywood glamour images. Oh & by the way the gallery is at  90-92 Hollywood Road!

Vanity Fair‘s March 2012 Hollywood cover is a three panel foldout featuring eleven modern starlets in delicious pastel satin gowns reminiscent of 1930s movie stars. Shot by Mario Testino the tableau features Rooney Mara, Mia Wasikowska, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Olsen, Adepero Oduye, Shailene Woodley, Paula Patton, Felicity Jones, Lily Collins & Brit Marling. Fashion and film have been intertwined since Hollywood‘s early days and The Artist, starring Jean Dujardin (as George Valentin) and Bérénice Bejo (as Peppy Miller) beautifully recreates the celluloid world of the 1920s. 21st century fashion designers will revel in the characters, the plot and of course the costumes! Check out the trailer and an article with costume designer Mark Bridges who divulges how key wardrobe pieces support the storyline and the challenges of costuming a black and white film.
