OurDigitalWorld (ODW) is interested in protecting and maintaining your privacy. In accessing collections through our VITA Digital Collections Toolkit (VITA) sites, however, we will collect personal information and/or use cookies to track your user sessions. We only collect this information in order to:
- Ensure you are a human and that your interaction with the site can be verified via email;
- Ensure we keep up to date with site and collection usage statistics to report to our clients and for internal analysis by OurDigitalWorld.
OurDigitalWorld does not collect or share any personal information collected via the public VITA site forms for use by 3rd parties beyond the specific VITA client involved in the interaction.
What Information We Collect & Where
Comments, Postcards, Testimonials & Contributions: VITA Toolkit sites do have pages where you will be required to enter your name and email address in order to receive either an automatic response (i.e. confirmation of a comment submission or contribution to a collection) and/or to receive personalized responses from the site administrator managing your contribution or request. In cases where a comment or contribution can be made public, you can opt to make your name public or not. Your email will be stored, but never made public or disseminated.
My Favourites: We do collect and store login and password information submitted through our Favourites module account set up for account access purposes only.
Cookies: We do use cookies on our VITA site(s) in order to track your particular ‘search session’ as you access the collection sites. This is not used for external purposes and is not directly traceable to you.
Google Analytics: As well, VITA collection sites do use Google Analytics to track the number of visitors, how those visitors came to the site, and which pages those visitors visit on our site, etc. This is all handled under Google’s privacy policy.
Please note:
- OurDigitalWorld does not ask for debit or credit card information via any VITA forms.
- This privacy policy does not pertain to digital collection content. For personal information concerns, please contact the organization named on the record in question.
