About Four Corners

Welcome to the Four Corners, where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona meet in a land of natural beauty and cultural richness. Home to the famous Four Corners Monument, this region offers a journey through breathtaking landscapes, and historical wonders.

Step into this realm rooted in Native American heritage, a landscape echoing the traditions of  the Navajo Nation, the Hopi, Ute, and Zuni. Adventure awaits in every direction. Hike, bike, or rock climb in Durango, or take a scenic drive along the Trail of the Ancients Byway, winding through stunning vistas and significant historical sites.

The Colorado Plateau beckons with its rugged beauty and rural charm. The Four Corners’ landscapes range from hot springs and waterfalls to the Sleeping Ute and Chuska Mountains. Walk along the Old Spanish Trail in Aztec, New Mexico, retracing the steps of historic explorers.

History comes alive here. Once home to the Ancestral Puebloan people, evidence of their incredible cliff dwellings and cultural remnants abound throughout the region, offering a glimpse into an ancient world. Delve deeper into local lore at the Farmington Library or trace the echoes of history through Dinetah rock art, illuminating the region’s role in 19th-century territorial changes. Take a ride on a narrow gauge railroad, explore old trading posts and historic mines, where tales of lawmen, entrepreneurs, and outlaws come to life.

Nightfall transforms the Four Corners into an astronomer’s dream, with its renowned dark skies unveiling some of the best stargazing experiences in the country. Explore must-see sites like Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon and Monument Valley, and enjoy extraordinary opportunities for wildlife viewing through our Visitor’s Guide. Delight in unique festivals, events, and museums such as the Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village.

Beyond its geographic marvels, Four Corners thrives as a cultural and economic hub. Farmington serves as the region’s largest city, complemented by the vibrant small towns of  Durango and Cortez. Learn about the best times to visit, places to stay, dining options, and tips for respectful travel in tribal lands.

Whether planning a tranquil retreat or an adventurous exploration, the Four Corners region promises a journey filled with awe-inspiring sights and unforgettable experiences. Join us as we guide you through this remarkable corner of the world.
